Finally watched the critically acclaimed Sicario the other day. Really didn't see the fuss with it. Decent enough movie but nothing out of the ordinary. Terrible casting in the form of Emily Blunt and the 'complicated' plot leading to the mission for Benicio Del Toro was pretty weak and nonsensical.
Now of course, movie opinions are subjective and one mans masterpiece is another mans Battlefield Earth but what movies would you consider overrated that everyone else seems to cream over?
Overrated movies?

Going to be a hipster but I prefer Road Warrior to Fury Road, not saying Fury Road is bad as it's arguably the finest action movie put to screen in the past few years.
But Road Warrior just had alittle more depth and alittle more wit, though both films have equally mindbogglingly special effects and some openly crazy character concepts.

Watched X Men Apocalypse last night.
Expecting some enjoyable light dumb fun but what I got instead was a film that was very heavy handed ,one that seemed just alittle too convoluted and, dare I say, ponderous, even with the extreme usage of (poor) CGI.
Now I dont generally watch comic book based films but I do have a soft spot for Singer's X Men films but I couldn't get past some of the continuity faults, with scenes feeling at times alittle too heavy handed, sketchy dialogue and moments that were totally out of place ie a interlude scene involving Weapon X (Wolverine) that felt embarrassingly shoehorned into the plot.
Isaac's portrayal of the films main antagonist Apocalypse was lacking presence and physical intimidation.
For a character regarded as the god among mutants he seemed alittle to reliant on McAvoy's professor X to get his dominant world order into place.
While Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Mystique left alot to be desired.Did she want to be in this film ?
The film wasn't without some merit.Fassbender and McAvoy are reliable screen actors who portray their individuals characters with as much depth as need be.Tye Sheridan's debut as Cyclops also comes out of the film with a good amount of credit.Singer deserves some praise in bringing some much needed character to the Cyclops onscreen adaption.
While Evan Peters steals the films main enjoyable moment with his turn as the likeable, confident Quicksilver.A scene that is on par with the quality of his last outing in the previous X Men film.
So the film isn't without some merit. It's certainly not as gloomy as Snyders DC efforts or as occasionally pretentious as Civil War.The film certainly wins in it's appearance of open stylized 80's goofiness but it unfortunately doesn't carry that over to it's cumbersome narrative.Shame.

Not being funny, but is this a commonly held opinion/view?

thinking he same thing myself.
It seemed to be hugely critically acclaimed at the time, but when I watched it, it just struck me as a no brain action movie.
lots of shouting and things going boom that eventually became a bit repetitive and tiresome. What did I miss?
