There have been a few moments in football which could have changed it all had things gone differently...
1) the Scholes disallowed goal in 2004 against Porto. Would Jose have been such a success had that goal been given?
2) Ruud missing a penalty against Arsenal in the last minute in that game in their unbeaten season. Obviously they wouldn't have been the Invincibles but would Wenger have been allowed as much time to fail if he hadnt achieved that?
3) Gazza missing the chance against Germany in 1996. Had he scored and England gone on to win the trophy in the final again at Czech Rep would England have had a better mental strength and won more trophies?
What sliding doors moments have you seen in football? What could have been so different?

The obvious one for Liverpool in recent years is Gerrard slipping.
I know some fans don't like saying it but I've no doubt that had that not happened, Liverpool would have went on to win that title.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't it make little difference to the result? 1-0 is still a win for Chelsea.

That season when David James got the yips which cost us the title in 97. He made a couple of blunders against Newcastle in the 4-3 win and never recovered from them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tha was the second 4-3 wasn't it? If I recall he made big blunders against Coventry and United in the run in as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep 2nd 4-3. Then from March onwards he was suspect in more or less every game with the most notable one being against United at home.

Sadly, Munich must be the key one. From all I have heard, that team could have gone on to special things.

So true. RM 11:3 MU in European Cups could be a very different ratio indeed.

If that microphone was switched off, we'd still have Big Ron commentating on mainstream TV, rather than the f*ckwits we have today.

I always though James had a mistake in him even though he could be a top keeper when he was on it. Really agile and when on form could pluck crosses from the air looking unbeatable. Shame for you guys he decided to have his dodgy spell at a crucial time.

You could name one for England in just about every tournament game from 1986 to 2012.

It was 0-0 at the time. If you think it didn't make a difference then you don't know football

You could make a list devoted to Gerrard.
If Gerrard hadn't slipped - vs Chelsea
If Gerrard hadn't passed to Henry - vs France
If Gerrard hadn't passed to Suarez - vs Uruguay
