Not sure how many people realise but Sony has organised a Playstation Event that could prove pretty significant.
By all accounts there will be the unveil of a new PS4 slim and every chance of announcing the Neo (a more powerful PS4) if rumours are anything to go by, I would guess there will be some VR related news too.
Either way we will know soon enough it is being streamed live about 8pm, anyone interested follow the link http://live.playstation.com/

No worries melton, This gen is a little unique, Sony have already said that they will be returning to a normal console cycle.
I think there is certainly a place for consoles (at least for now) But the xbox brand has diminished and I cant see bringing exclusives to PC helping that.

Really? As in a seven year cycle? I can't see that working.
It's more about the other way round though, which is what they are focussing on with scorpio - as in pc to Xbox. They want developers to be using UWP and the advantage for them is that the games make it across both mediums. For your average Xbox user, I highly doubt they have a Pc anyway.
There's a place for both consoles still, which is what I meant to say and there needs to be.

There is no doubt there are huge benefits to MS, not so much the console gamer, Exclusives are what has driven consoles and the xbox will have non,
now you might say they are console exclusives, but if you can play them on PC, don't expect huge console sales, which will weaken the brand.
And yes Sony have said they will return to normal console cycles, but I suppose that can change if need be.

Just one other thing, Xbox are still outselling the 360, it's just that ps have smashed it. That doesn't mean that both can't be happy though, ultimately they are only in competition in the minds of fans.

Exclusives haven't driven consoles though. Console sales, but from a monetary point of view, multi platform games take up all of the top 10.
They wouldn't care about console sales, they care about game sales and platforms.

I think we are in agreement, they don't care about console sales, poor console sales will inevitably weaken the xbox as a brand.

I agree with your first statement, not the second. You seem to be thinking the Xbox brand is console specific or hardware driven, which is the opposite of what they are moving towards.

And I don't believe it would weaken their console sales that much anyway due to the amount of console users that don't have a pc they use for gaming. There's an equally valid argument (considering this is all guessing the future) that it will lead to a greater variety of games available for the casual gamer as well as a more enticing offer for developers and games companies and so increase the market - that's ultimately the thinking behind their strategy.
It's more that console sales is not their primary motivator.

You are probably right, but who knows how that will pan out.

I have a feeling the next few years might see both changing direction a few times.
Personally, I'd like to just see a few more original titles that really innovate as well as play well. We've had a few this generation, but needs a few more really.
