If true looks like Darmian is outta here. Not too fussed as his performance against Spurs in April was an all time worst showing from a United player. Not a big fan of Valencia there but he's doing okay and it might be the best way for Fosu-Mensah to get games.
Jose and Darmian 'breakdown'

I thought given an injury free run of games, and a manager who gave him confidence when he first arrived, that he could be a top fullback for us.
But if Jose doesn't rate him, better to move on.

Dunc's actually right, though.

Nah. I don't hate Blind and IMO we should play Smalling and Bailly but I have no issues with Blind there as he's proved me wrong.
Unlike others on here I can admit mistakes

Shaw could play one game and be a better signing than Moreno.

No he couldn't lol

If the 'breakdown' is genuine and we lose Darmian that is/would be a bad thingy indeed. A big loss made worse when there really is nothing to fill the gap
No problem with Valencia - apart from his age, and a propensity for manager to have to use him to cover crap like Rafael - but he is a winger nothing more nothing less.
Darmian fitted the bill as an, ideal, specialist left back for United. He is one of the few that did have genuine potential from last year. Knows how to position himself, knows how to tackle, spots the danger very quickly. His only flaw was an over use of arms (which can be coached out of him).
In many ways his defensive strengths make him a bit of an anomaly as a full back these days.
I actually thought Jose's intelligence would actually spot that. Maybe he has, and the reports are just media nonsense. I certainly hope so. I dread the idea of some of the other reprobates that are being suggested to put in that position.
If he does go, that means another hole in the squad that, in turn, mean more 'square pegs in rounds holes'.

As long as Luke Shaw is playing he offers Blind protection and room to move forward. I like the two of them on the left, as we get a little extra out of their positions when they play together as a unit. Smalling will play plenty this season, right now I wouldn't make a change, it's not broke, doesn't need fixing. Plus Bailly is playing like a real beast of a man, wow....

Meh... never rated Darmian. Not a fit for this league.
Give Maureens propensity to stick with the same starting 11, I expect to see a few more of these...

There's really no argument for bringing Smalling back into the side right now.
