Just in case anyone didn't know Chelsea U23 are playing their first match in the EFL trophy/Checkatrade Trophy. One of a few PL U23 sides who accepted the invitation into the EFL trophy - which used to be called Johnstone's Paint Trophy. It is quite interesting as of course it's the first season of this happening, and our U23 squad is very varied. Although it could include Chalobah, Aina, RLC and Solanke, the rest of the squad is very young - oldest players are around 18 except for Fankaty Dabo who's been around forever.
- kick off is at 7:45 and this + the other two group games are live on Chelsea TV
- notice 'group games' above, format is a group stage before the knockout, we play three games and top two teams go through. The other two teams in the group are Exeter and Oxford City
- squad numbers for those likely to feature on the tournament is as follows.. https://twitter.com/chelseayouth/status/775622665503727616
In theory Zouma and MVG could also play.
- statistics and debuts etc. Count for Chelsea U23 and not for the main side. So no official debut yet for Chalobah if he appears tonight

fans never like change, more fool them. Give it a chance and let it flourish. Should help quality of not only players available to all league clubs (including their own) but also English national team of successful.

Checkatrade trophy is a horrible name for a trophy though and whoever approached Checkatrade for sponsorship should be deported

It will never be a good idea, it will just deprive smaller clubs of a chance to win themselves a trophy and to play at Wembley, all for the sake of helping out the likes of Chelsea reserves. If the PL clubs want a tournament for their reserves and youth players then fine but don't involve the senior teams of smaller clubs.
I can imagine the final at Wembley this year having less than 10k fans compared to nearly 60k at the last final for the old tourney.

Our #CFCDev team tonight is Collins; Sterling, T.Chalobah, Tomori, J.Dasilva; Quintero, Scott; Wakefield, Mount, Christie-Davies; Ugbo.
Our subs: Ali, Muheim, Sammut, Colley, St Clair, Thompson, Taylor-Crossdale.
Total development squad team then, not even Solanke included. Not familiar with a lot of these names ngl

I'm afraid I can't argue against that and won't be watching it on principle!
