Why I rate Fellaini

It has come to my attention that some have wondered why I back Fellaini so much.

I shall explain why and hopefully next time I defend him from such disdain you guys understand why.

It all started back in 2012 when he performed a masterclass against us at Goodison and I was so impressed with how well be battered us that day I wanted him on our side rather than against us.

That very night I wrote an infamous article saying we should sell Nani and buy Fellaini. Not a direct replacement of course but one that IMO got rid of a flakey player in Nani and got us an axe in return. One that could always give us a plan B where before we had no real one other than to throw Hernandez on and hope for the best.

Has he been a great signing for us? No, not in the Cantona or Rio sense but he has deffo earnt his place in the side at times with some very important goals. First, a few when Liverpool were threatening to catch us for top 4 in LVGs first season and then important goals in the FA cup quarters and semis and if I'm not mistaken a knock down for Mata's goal in the final.

My admiration for Fellaini is based in reality too. Its not like I'm sitting here and wishing Bebe or Djemba Djemba got a chance. Fellaini has been put in starting line ups by every manager be it Moyes, Giggs, LVG and now Jose so its not just me who rates him.

If Jose or the next manager came in and sold him I wouldn't bat an eyelid as id assume he wasnt what the new manager would want. Part of the reason i rate Fellaini is because I believe in what he can do for us and more importantly I see what the managers see. Jose is a big fan and he wants the rest of our fans to like him too. Even though he's not the best its sad he's not at least a cult hero.

Right. Now I will tell you why he should leave the club tomorrow.
His passing is truly atrocious. Have you ever seen him float a ball above 30 yards to another united player or make a defence splitting pass?
His mobility is atrocious. My Grandma could overtake hom and she turned 92 last week and the poor lass has had a zimmer frame for 4 yrs.
His positional awareness is atrocious. So many times he is caught unaware. Look at the acres of space he left De Bruyne time and time again. I appreciate Pogba didn't help him however still no excuse for the amount of time he had on the ball.
His dribbling skills are atrocious. His greatest ever piece of skill was running from one side of the pitch to the other against Bayern running it straight out of play.
His shooting is atrocious...how many goals does he actually score with his feet.

The guy is an absolute calamity footballer and a perfect example as to where the club lies now than when it did under fergie.
I will not be happy til the guy fecks off and my heart sinks when ever i see that useless elbowing oaf on the teamsheet. He is a red card waiting to happen and whenever i see him suspended or injured as harsh as it sounds it actually makes me happy.

Marouane Fellaini. Feck off out of united...

Seems a nice guy mind.

What's going to parties got to do with thinking Fellaini is dogsheite?

Seriously what a muppet

He's simply not the player you want to be watching in a Utd shirt. If Fellaini is in your side then you simply can't be happy watching that style of football, especially if you're old enough to have become accustomed to be entertained by teams attacking with flair.
Never been a Utd fan clearly but I would watch Utd matches as they were entertaining and played good football,it seems a long time ago that I would've given them a second look these days though

It's true that Fellaini should be a popular player with United fans rather than a figure of fun and a scapegoat for bad performances/results.

Really hate to hear our fans slagging him off and getting on his back.

I like Fellaini. I like the fact he does actually seem to care and is willing to stay and fight for his place and that he has kind of turned round an awful first season for us.

Having said all that, and I am happy him staying as a squad player, he won't be a player that will take us back to where we want to be. He may get some great moments for United in the future such as scoring an equalizing/winning goal in a big game/tie but that'll be as a Plan B option hopefully.

I don't think any United fan should ever hate on him though as it isn't his fault several managers have chosen his skillset for the first XI.

I am ambivalent about Fellaini. His critics on here are the usual 'don't think for myself, but follow the crowd' types anyway.

He does a reasonable job in a poor current squad. There are far worse, less contributive, players getting almost as many starts - lingard and herrera for example.

not a fan of Fellaini as such, but recognise his contribution
