...... we have a lot of top quality players and the challenge for Mauricio is to blend this talent .
Last night Dele Alli played DM - AM - LW yet he is far more effective as an AM playing in the hole just behind the striker.
Jansen is a bustling type player but he has got no pace and Vertonghen was caught out again last night on both goals with the first one being a carbon copy of the Rihad Marhez goal at Leicester in the first game of last season.
We need to play with pace & tempo & width like we did for 20 minutes after halftime when Dele Alli was in the AM role
Our best side in my humble opinion when everyone is fit :-
Lloris
Walker
Aldereiwald
Wimmer
Rose
Dier
Dembele
Erriksen
Alli
Kane
Nkoudou.
Round pegs.. Square holes...

Nkoudou, what?

Random Nkoudou
It could very well be is fantastic, but in the best XI now?
I would not disagree with the rest.
I find it hard to instinctively like both Lamela and Eriksen wide, but ultimately it has worked for us when Rose and Walker play, so Lamela for Nkoudou is probably my preferred XI right now.
Ultimately I would like pace and directness in there though....someone has to step up though

wanyama over Dier
Lamela should be in there imo

N'Koudou
On what evidence?
Dembele's club suspension altered team selection last night. Sure that if he'd had been playing games he'd have started last night

I'm in total agreement that you should only play players in their position. Ali is an attacking midfielder who is most effective behind the striker, so that's where you play him - otherwise you're hampering his game. There was no point playing him as CM last night.
If that means dropping players then so be it. If we had played Wanyama (or a fit Dembele) there last night then I think we'd have given ourselves much more of a chance.
What annoys me is that I'm sure Poch knows this - he just got carried away last night. Son's goals against Stoke put a spanner in the works, if that hadn't happened then I think our line up yesterday would have been more balanced.
(Nkoudou though?! We haven't seen him play yet!)

Having said that, this quote from Ali today:
"When I was at MK Dons, I played all the games in centre midfield so it’s not like [the No8 role] is new to me.”

We need pace down the left which Walker gave us last night and when we play Erriksen & Lamela on the wings our play becomes inverted which means we have a laboured build up we need pace & tempo but more worringly is how weak Verthongen is at the back you could stick currants in him he is that soft !!

Nkodou hasn't done much in training by all accounts and Jansens still struggling training.
We need to start playing him though to help the shattered Kane.
