Wenger's Coaching Ability

I read the following article today and it really got me thinking.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/arsenal-vs-southampton-why-theo-walcott-and-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-have-not-fulfilled-their-a7232761.html

I would really question Wenger's coaching ability, especially during the last 10 years. Most of the invincible era players and before were already at the top of their game both technically and mentally when he bought or inherited them. ie They had a good tactical football brain which allowed them to work out how best to play out a match. The only player who comes to mind who improved dramatically under Wenger was TH14. I am really struggling to think of other candidates . PV4 maybe ..but even then I'm not sure that Wenger made that much difefrence to his game.

The likes of Ox, Theo, Jack W, Gibbs have stagnated or even regressed because he has been unable or unwilling to coach them on how to improve their game.

I think that in the past Wenger was good at spotting talent and if those players were able to improve themselves by working hard and using their brains they turned into world beaters . If not then they just went backwards like our present crop.

Koeman publicly criticised Barkley today. He's another player who is going backwards. I like his pro-active approach and believe that Koeman will get an improved performance out of him. If not, he'll cut him loose.

I just can't wait for Wenger to leave. This club which I have supported through thick and thin for over 45 years has got so stale and boringly predictable under Wenger. Like a 5 day old fish he is just stinking the place out.

The performances this season have been totally abject. You replace Cavani with Aguerro and we would have got thumped 5 or 6 -1 by PSG the other night.

Aptly named as you appear to be talking through it

As usual people either can't read on this forum or choose to read what they want to read. As I said in my article I was mainly referring to the last ten years and I did state that Wenger was good at spotting existing talent.

However, I think that the number of players that he has actively coached in order to improve their natural style of play can be counted on the fingers of one hand at the most. Bellerin is great going forward but has serious deficiencies in his defensive game. Is Wenger and his coaches working on this ?

People talk about players development being badly affected by injuries. No club has had more injuries than Arsenal . Even this season we have more injured players than any other. We have this issue EVERY season. Don't you think another manager would have held a root and branch investigation into this and sorted it out by now. It happens too often to be a coincidence.

People are quick to criticise and insult. YES, maybe I did overlook the likes of Cesc and RVP . I welcome a genuine discussion and that is the point of a forum. It really shouldn't descend into childish personal insults.

When you make a statement like:
"The only player who comes to mind who improved dramatically under Wenger was TH14. I am really struggling to think of other candidates "
it is hard to look past it, tbh. Such a ridiculous statement.

The whole tone of the article ("...already at the top of their game both technically and mentally when he bought or inherited them." suggests you won't credit Wenger anyway, so little point going deeper than we have.

Sadly, I'm afraid that the game might have passed Wenger by?

Watched the Chelsea v Liverpool game today on the good old TV. What a great game, exciting football from end to end, the way the game is meant to be played. Someone please send a copy of this to Arsene.

Even for a parody account you are taking things too far by saying that game is how football should be played. Chelsea were woeful, harking back to last seasons form. Hazard anonymous, Oscar and Willian awful, Costa starved of possession.
Liverpool were a bit better, great second goal. But hardly thrill a minute action.

Hey Genius,
The score was 2-1, not 6-0. Not a fan of either team, but the game was very entertaining, unlike that Wenger style that the Gunners play each week and that you appreciate. Perhaps you and your uncle Arsene should remember the FANS who pay to be entertained, not put to sleep!

Chelsea fans were not entertained tonight, Chelsea were woeful.
Why do you pretend to be an Arsenal fan, btw? I don't think anyone is fooled by your act, quite pathetic to be still running with it. Maybe you can reply using your other account, the one were you are open about supporting Liverpool

And funnily enough there was a 6-0 tonight. And the team, Caen, who got thrashed still had more chances than either Liverpool or Chelsea

Mackeroni
You are such a big-mouthed moron. In fact you even have conversations with yourself! Get a job, get a partner, get a life. Last time I checked, it was legal to voice an opinion contrary to your usual warmed over vomit. And I don't have to get your permission to support whatever team I wish. Now kindly KMA and get lost!
