Says he reminds him of Messi when he was young !!!!! Not sure that's such a smart comparison in this era of overhyped youngsters with huge ego's but I'm looking forward to seeing the kid play. Hope he gets some minutes tonight ! COYS

Really worried about Kane chaps. As a few people who have done their ligaments have said in the last few days, it never quite recovers the same. The clubs says as much in this article:
The swelling was still so severe that it was impossible to accurately scan the damage – which sounded worrying. “This is why you can’t give a time-frame [for his absence],” Pérez said, although the early estimate is one of around eight weeks.
It was put to Pérez that injured ligaments never truly healed and as the problem was to Kane’s favoured shooting foot, he was asked whether there were any long-term concerns over the striker. “Of course, it’s like an accident – never again is the car the same or never again do you know,” Perez said. “But there are no problems to recover from injuries. The ligament heals good or bad but it heals. The join adjusts from the previous injuries.”
Really doesn't sound good to me

just shows what a ridiculous challenge it was, which I seem to be the only person noting. it was a needless and rather reckless lunge slide kind of thing from miles away... wtf was he doing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's because it is ridiculous over-analysis. We play a high press system and the very ethos is to commit in a challenge. 99.9% of the time your foot wont jar, it is just freak and unfortunate injury.
You wouldn't say the same thing if he injured his ankle in the process of making an unnecessary shot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
what is an unnecessary shot? if he took a shot on instead of playing an obvious pass inside for someone to tap in, and injured himself in the process then yes I would have a go at him for taking an uneccesary shot.
high pressing game does not mean you go lunging in for wild challenges, it means you press with intensity and sensibly.

Wtf is Poch saying that for? I'm sure he could have named some other short players who dribble, not one of the best players ever
As already noted, Poch would have never played with Messi. Messi was 15 when Poch retired from international duty.

But that doesnt change anything chronic:
Firstly the challenge was hardly unnecessary
Secondly you can't blame the challenge for an injury, just like you couldnt blame someone shooting and getting injured, for shooting

of course it was unnecessary. he lunged in sliding from miles away, in their half, no danger whatsoever, with us ahead in the game...
it was the very definition of an unnecessary tackle.
now I applaud his desire to win the ball back for the team, and I applause his work rate, and agree that it was very unfortunate to get injured in a tackle like that, but it doesn't change the fact that it was unnecessary, and with hindsight it was also rather silly, given the consequences.
I bet kane is sitting there thinking why the fack did I lunge in like that, and poch is probably thinking the same.

Got no issue with what Poch said. I'm sure he's spoken to him in training and knows the measure of him.
It's now up to Edwards to push on and make something of his career.
dos Santos and Bojan were also Barca's next Messi's, earning decent careers but not exactly setting the world alight. Edwards has to have the drive that young talent has given him.

Vertonghen tore ankle ligaments during the euros and was back for the start of the season, and his ankle seems as good as new.
