Listening on talksport yesterday it seemed that he would receive a mixed reception if he went back to Leeds, still a very good player at this level. Worth taking a punt on or would you rather see someone else at St Marys next season?

He is a good player, surprised that Newcastle let him go!

He's how old? Hardly academy material, is he, but if he can still do the business let's have him, but not play him up front with DC as their combined ages would be huge!

He's still only 30 atm. Although we do need some youngsters too, we will need a few experienced heads to be successful in the Championship as a lot of the current team are still unproven at that level

I'd be more concerned about a dodgy knee that the age of thirty! (that & the wages)

He doesn't have a good disciplinary record at St Marys....sent off for England vs Maccedonia!

If Alan Smith played with DC their combined age would only be one more year than RL and DC. Anyway I would rather see fitter players coming in

No thanks, I don't like him and his wage demands would not justify what he would actually add to the squad. Recently he has been a Striker that doesn't score goals and a defensive midfielder, I would much prefer Jack Cork in that role. Alan Smith would upset the equalibrium of the squad too much in my opinion.
