As Carrick is getting on, who is the closest player that resembles carrick that we can buy in the summer.

I think it would be hard for us to keep Drinky if United wanted him but £30m will be rejected. I can't see us considering bids of less than £50m and no release clause means we don't have to consider offers.
He's by far the best English midfielder in the league at the moment and we all know how overinflated transfer fees are for English players. He's still only 26 so hasn't reached his peak yet and he's only going to get better so there's no way he should be worth less than Sterling or Stones. If a bid of £50m came in then you'd have to say he'll leave but will United bid that much for him? I get the impression that clubs think they can sign Leicester players on the cheap but I've no idea why.

Drinkwater? Have you not learned your lesson about resigning players for silly money that you let go for nothing?
In all seriousness Drinkwater looks great because hes been playing in an organised team, great player but he also would struggle in your unbalanced, disjointed side.

Perhaps we don't have to look outside the club..... Herrera has alot of Carrick's qualities .... he is lacking in the positional sense, but that may come with experience, he is more energetic and tenacious too.
José seems impressed by him, so he might get game time in various CM roles.

What's Sean Goss like? Heard a while ago he was Carrick-like playing for the junior teams.

Goss is a classy and dependable player. For me, he's a bit like a cross between Carrick (cool head, good range of passing, reads the game well) and Fletch (plays with his head up, likes to pass and get forward).
Although I think he'd have been given the U23 captaincy after Weir left if he'd have been fit, I'm not sure he's quite ready to make the step up yet. I think he might go out on loan in the winter.

I don't think Jose wants a Carrick replacement. He wants a destroyer, he tried to get Kante and Sanches.
Probably why he keeps playing Fellaini

for Benfica, at least... Sanches was not anything close to a destroyer, he was very much an attack minded CM.

I guess, liked to break up the play and drive forwards. But I've only seem him a few times.
Wouldn't compare him to your normal attacking midfielder tbh. Certainly a destroyer in the sense he is physically imposing, mobile and wins the ball.

Surely Danny Drinkwater isn't a serious consideration? He's no better than Jordan Henderson. Definitely not comparable to Michael Carrick.
There's got to be better available for cheaper on the continent.

Anyway its amazing how Carrick hasn't played for England once at a tournament since he joined Man Utd. He probably is our best midfielder in our squad. Yesterday he dictated the game so we had all round control. LVG was right he transferred his philosophy onto the pitch. Just a shame everyone else is rubbish Now with Rashford we got another english player that is a gem.

.........
Whenever we play Leicester City we seem to pepper the goal and have tons of possession and Drinkwater can barely get a kick of the ball except his through balls straight to DDG.
