Brendan Rodgers splits opinion but he did do one thing that every Liverpool fan can thank him for and that's sighing Phil Coutinho for £8m.
Phil was a talent from the word go but he didn't have the consistency and goals to really make him one of the leagues top players.
With each passing season however his game goes up a level and now we have undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League.
Coutinho clearly benefited from playing alongside Suarez and now, with Firmino, Mane and yes, even Lallana, who all compliment Phils game.
I really hope he stays at the club for many years because if f I look around the league now, I struggle to think of many players who I consider to be as good as Phil and boy can he score a good goal.
Are there still fans out there trying to convince themselves he's overrated ?

I don't think coutinho has ever gotten near his form from the first 6 months we had him.

Yeah, I remember being mesmerised watching him in his early days. Virtually every time he had the ball you expected him to do something meaningful with it.

He was quality yesterday!
That drop of the shoulder to just move away from the defenders round him for the first goal was great!

Fraudinho will be back frustrating you next game cutting in on his right and blasting it into row Z when there are about 17 better options he could have done

Coutinho goes missing every season. From the end of November to the end of February because he is a warm-blooded Brazilian and he feels the cold. The level of his performances drop IMO due to this.

Coutinho needs consistency.
However yesterday klopp employed an interesting tactic with him by pushing milner much further on and asking coutinho to almost play left midfield covering him.
So basically he's at least showing tactical awareness.

It was Rafa that recommended him.
Rafa was the one that gave him first starting appearances at Inter.

Coutinho was struggling at Inter, sent out on loan a couple of times and alledgedly Rafa recommended we give him a go. I guess Rafa knew he wasn't going to be at Inter long enough to use him himself!
