It's not good to see our former manager doing so badly at Derby- much as I have no regard for Derby whatsoever, I hold the cantankerous NP with some affection for all that he did for our club. Losing at home to the bottom side does not augur well for the traditional Monday morning meeting with the chairman. He looks rough and unshaven on TV interviews. I don't know what is going on at Derby, I expect he's upset a few players (and probably Radio Derby as well!) but I hope he can quickly turn things around- if not he won't get another chance in the top two divisions, I shouldn't wonder. Also wish his sidekick well, the legendary Chris Powell- top man.

It does seem strange as the Derby role looked ideal for him. They are further ahead than we were when he took over here. I thought it would just be a case of getting rid of a few players and just putting a talented squad on the right track. Getting individuals to play as a team was always his great strength here.
The big question was always how much of his success with us was down to him alone? He had great owners here and a fantastic backroom team - that admittedly he was instrumental at putting together.
I still have an incline that he could pull it around, but will he be given time? Derby haven't been too far away in recent seasons so won't have much patience for going backwards to enable them to move forwards. It might be a case of being just the wrong club for him. It's surprising how it all changes for a manager at certain clubs. Even Peter Taylor had an inexplicable period of success at Hull City. Or it might just be that Shakespeare and Walsh were integral to what he achieved with us and he really can't do it on his own.

It's both a surprise and shame to see him struggling. Even though its Derby I wish him well and hope he turns it around.
It will be interesting to see if he does. What was always clear when he was at us was that when things weren't working, it took him a fair amount of time to turn it around.
I'm. It sure he'll get that at Derby!

Rather ironic really, I was speaking to a Derby fan on Friday who along with his Dad is a long term season ticket holder.
His Dad thinks he's awful and he thinks he's good and will turn it round.
Pearson - still the Marmite King.
Apparently they do have a fair few highly paid players with Ego's who need sorting out, his words, so maybe not too dissimilar to when he came back to Leicester.

I'm afraid what the last couple of seasons have showed is that Pearson, for all his qualities, was always the third most impressive and influential part of the Pearson-Shakespeare-Walsh trinity, and he really does look lost without them.
One of the most baffling decisions he made is getting rid of Chris Martin, who had been their top scorer for donkey's years, and keeping Darren Bent who hasn't been prolific since about 2009. He's also struggled to sign players, a further indication that he's missing Walsh's knowledge and contacts.
If given the time, I suspect he will get Derby promoted by around the 2018/19 season, although IMO a club with the squad and resources that Derby have should be looking to go up this season. But then, I always did suffer from 'delusions of grandeur'

They need to stick by him. Not sure about his unshaven look tho!

Certainly it might help his cause if he didn't look like he'd been sleeping in his office throughout his tenure.
It's like he's turned up and told all the players that they're doing it wrong and need to learn how to play again from scratch. Whether the Derby board will stick with him long enough to find out whether he it'll work is another matter, but you couldn't blame them for being alarmed considering they've been in or around the playoffs for the last few seasons.

He's more than struggling now! I wonder what this is all about?!
