Good evening you lovely lot.
Another dominant Spurs display and Victory. CSKA aren't a great side but any win away in the champions league, especially in Russia is a very good nights work.
Considering that we are missing half of our best eleven through injury and managed to also rest Walker is a testament to our squad strength.
Here are my ratings for tonights game -
Lloris 7 I think he had 2 easy saves to make all night. Came for crosses well to take the pressure off his defence.
Trippier - 6 Was found wanting in the first half when CSKA constantly got in behind him but then again he didn't have much protection in front of him. Had less defending to do in the 2nd half.
Alderweireld - 7.5 Majestic.....again
Vertonghen - 7 First half he was excellent one minute and then sloppy the next. Had less defending to do in the 2nd half.
Davies - 7 Does what he says on the tin - Defends well and keeps it simple. One excellent block prevented a certain CSKA goal.
Wanyama - 8 Got booked early on and was walking a tightrope all game but was excellent. Made vital interceptions all game and used the ball well.. MOTM imo.
Alli - 7 Great effort that crashed against the bar, A mixed bag for Dele who did some great things but was sloppy at times too.
Lamela - 7 Overplayed too often particularly coming inside way too much into a congested midfield. Nice through ball for Son to latch onto for our goal. He does have a lovely weighted through ball in his locker.
Eriksen - 7 Very similar to Lamela, one too many touches at times and over complicated things by being too intricate with his play. Worked his socks off all game.
Son - 7.5 A constant threat to CSKA all game, guilty of not pulling the trigger more quickly on a couple of occasions but got another goal and put in another high energy performance.
Janssen - 6 Lovely hold up play and touches in and around the box. he likes to back into the defender but too often holds on too long though. Never looked like scoring which is a worry. We need him to be more selfish. A brilliant team player but we need goals from him.
Subs -
N'Koudou - 8 Fantastic performance off the bench. Was an excellent outlet for us with his pace and direct play. He pressed the play well and put in a real shift for his team mates.
Winks - 6.5 Composed last 10minutes from the youngster as expected. never seems flustered on the ball.

I was surprised with how poor CSKA were to be honest. Would be surprised if they pick up a win in any of the remaining games.

Lamela was not very good, other than the assist. He is so lightweight, improved a bit second half.

the guy was direct and released a lot of ball to janssen and eriksen, was always available, and got the assist

Not saying anyone else was, hence I said I would not give anyone barring Wanyama and Toby more than a six.
Some of Lamela's passing first half was atrocious. It was a really bipolar performance from him, much improved 2nd half though.
Eriksen, Son and Alli very similar too. Too much dallying with the ball, one too many touches, waiting too long to release, sloppy passing at times, but the opposite on other occasions.

the same as me lost count of the number of miss passes and fouls he committed trying to retrieve the situation, terrible game

Lamela is on of those players who can both infuriate & delight you in the same game!
Whilst his first half was mediocre, he was much better in the second half & of course his ittle dink led to Son scoring.
However, although a massive fan of Dele, he has to firstly stop trying to do the difficult thing ALL the time.
He has been off th pace for some time & I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench at the weekend!
