HFC 1 DUFC 1

United left Easter Road with a point after a fairly poor and scrappy performance by both sides and I think we'll be delighted to do so, particularly after a weekend where a lot of the teams above us dropped points.

We were very poor for most of the game and I think you have to look at the selection as a starting point. I've got a bit of sympathy for the manager as his first choice midfield pairing of Flood and Murdoch are injured, but the side seemed so disjointed and for most of the first hour we didn't really lay a glove on Hibs. Having said that, for all the possession the Leith men had they did very little with it and we actually defended quite well, the only lapse coming at the opener when Durnan took a step to his left anticipating a pass which left a gap for the striker to exploit. Keatings was a thorn in our side for much of the game but Cummings was well-marshalled throughout - I don't really see the hype with him to be honest, he's a bit of a poor man's David Goodwillie imo.

A big part of our problem is Murray, and his inability to hold the ball up. He offered nothing yesterday and he never at any stage allowed us to release pressure and build attacks. We were notably better after he and Van der Velden, who was very poor, came off. I feel like I'm going to say this every week, but how we could do with a big target man to hold the ball in, particularly when we have Andreu who is at his best when he feeds off a main striker. At the moment the Frenchman is struggling to get into games because he doesn't have anyone to play off of.

We were much better after the changes though and I think ultimately we deserved the draw courtesy of big Willie's header from a Fraser corner. Fraser was once again the target of the social media moaners and I just don't get it. I don't think he's amazing or anything like that, but he's one of the few players who always looks to get on the ball. Folk were mumping and moaning about him on twitter and yet he was much better than VdV and I didn't see a single negative tweet about him - a mate of mine was actually moaning about him getting taken off. I was pleased to see Fraser get the MOM award and hopefully he continues to do what he does - just slightly better!

Anyway, very pleased with the point in our hardest game and hopefully we can get Flood and Murdoch back soon to really strengthen our team ahead of two winnable home games.

Mon the Terrors.

Unlike certain teams, we do the decent thing and get relegated when we finish bottom.

Sporting integrity and that, you know?

I watched the first half whilst waiting on my washing coming out the machine so I could go out. Dreadful game

rnr, it was truly awful.

United slightly improved in the second half, Hibs slightly worsened.

Can't remember either keeper making a decent save.

It's going to be a tight race for promotion. Hibs you would say would be favs to go up because of the squad they have but it will be unspectacular.

Dundee Utd don't really seem to have got into any sort of rhythm yet

uniteds love of kock is holding them back.

instead of going for goal they are trying to sook boabies.

Hibs should win the league.

Queen of the South are going well and in Stephen Dobbie they've got a very good player. They might be close.

We've had to do a massive rebuilding job on a tight budget while at the same time trying to build up the confidence of the players who were there last season. It's not been easy and I don't think the manager knows his best team even when they're all fit.

I think we lack a wee bit of pace at times too going forward.

Really poor game but happy with a point. Simon Murray had a shocker, the ball just seems to bounce off him. Agree Fraser takes more than his fair share of stick, don't always think he helps himself though to be honest...! For me Edjenguele was pretty solid throughout and was probably a shout for motm. Next two league matches are at home, St Mirren who are without a league win this season and Dumbarton. Need to take six points from those and keep pressure on the teams above us. Good fun seeing Dundee losing again...!
