Klopp - Bullet dodged?

Many of our fans thought we should have moved for him when he left Dortmund.

I think we dodged a bullet.

Let's look at the substance...

In 2014-15, his Dortmund team - containing the likes of Reus, Hummels, Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan & Immobile - were languishing in the relegation zone halfway through the season. They eventually 'recovered' to finish 7th in a two-team league.

In 2015-16, he took the reigns at Liverpool shortly into the season, and guided them to an 8th place finish, their lowest since 2012 and even lower than the much-maligned Brendan Rodgers ever took them.

He's also lost his last 5 finals. We've built up a big game mentality over the last two and a bit seasons and Klopp might undermine that.

Now let's look at the style...

I'm not a fan of Klopp's 'heavy metal', try-hard style. As Arsenal fans, we're accustomed to tiki-taka... or Wengerball as many call it. The beauty of our game would dissipate if we adopted the style that Klopp's Liverpool or Poch's Spurs use.

Think about the magical Wilshere goal vs Norwich, or the Walcott goal vs Chelsea etc. It would also alienate the likes of Özil. I can't imagine the World Cup-winner being happy at having to play the Klopp way. I'd much rather keep the best playmaker in football happy than have Klopp in charge.

What do you think? The ideal appointment or a bullet dodged?

Really like Klopp, Liverpool are very lucky to have him - huge upgrade on their latest managers."

At least not all Arsenal fans are morons

There wasn’t a single Arsenal fan who agreed with Liquidatedmoron on this thread. Or probably any other thread ever.

Weird really considering you're usually so on point.

I see Pepe made it to the apex best wide forward in the league status that you predicted too.

Pepe would have reached that level but Arteta hasn’t been able to get the best out of him.

That’s because Arteta isn’t the apex manager that Klopp is.
