Bright future for national squad?

It appears that England's U17s are a force to be reckoned with.

Based on pre-U21 potential England would be one of the top countries in the world. Shame how much it's wasted.

So would Serbia, Nigeria and Sweden.

We've always had good players and squads, maybe not so much now, but the problems are a lot deeper than just the players.

I think the situation is improving with regards to English technical players, but as a few posters have said it is a matter of getting them through to senior sides when there is such a risk-averse mentality due to the extremely high stakes in the EPL.

There are some astonishing young players coming through, though. Omari Hutchinson is something crazy like 12 and he has astonishing skill.

United fans have a condition where they overhype their juniors. Rashford is a solid player but you'd think United have just discovered the secret and Rashford is the first ever true youth product.

If Rashford leads the line for United for many years, I'll be happy. He's very good for his age but my prediction is that he won't be at United five years from now.

Maybe, maybe not, regarding Rashford.

Were you one of the many Liverpool fans that was so gladly saying good riddance to Raheem Sterling because Jordan Ibe was a far better prospect, and probably a better current player?

We overhype our young players? Remember Liverpool fans with John facking Flanagan and Jordan Ibe?
