LSTD's League GW7

Portsmouth vs Leicester

2 very very good sides, both set-up to play the game in the right way, not a lot in it tactically but I really like ROF’s front 5 and they’d trouble any side, was going to say I thought switching to 2 banks of 4 defensively was clever but you both did it
FT – Pompey 1-2 Leicester
Lewa (Gundogan)
Ibra (Hazard) Hazard (Hamez)

Motm – Javi Martinez – shielded the defence perfectly, gave him team a foothold

Man City vs Villa
Big game this for title chasing Villa, away at Man City….Have got me hard hat on ready – barring KDB have never seen such a collection of uninspiring centre-mids in my SG Career, In Icardi and Higuain both sides do have a match-winning striker, Villa the favourites on paper but home adv is a big boost for City
FT – City 1-0 Villa
Icardi (Gotze)
MOTM – Laporte – stemmed the tide of Villa attacks by keeping Judas Higuain quiet (mostly)

Hull vs Spurs
A nice game this from two improving sides, Both sides are well drilled and will be difficult for them to be broken down, Spurs are the more β€œestablished" side but you can never write off Welshy especially with home advantage.
FT – Hull 2-1 Spurs
Werner (brandt) Volland (solo)
Lacazette (Fekir)
MOTM – Kante, bossed the midfield battle very unlucky to be on the losing side today.

Chelsea vs Blues
Chelsea may not have had the best of starts to the season but will be well up for this game, Nadz has done a grand job at Blues but this is a tall order for anyone, Mind you that tactical genius Tino Bambino got a win at the bridge back in week 2.

FT – Chelsea 3-1 Birmingham
Aguero (Sanchez) Neymar (Pogba) Pogba (Aguero)
Rashford (Depay)

MOTM – Pogba, ran the show today, everything good about Chelsea went through the man, a true world class performance

Liverpool vs Man Utd
An old school grudge match here, Englands greatest ever side vs the team with more league titles than any other. The sad thing is neither manager was born when the scouse last won the biggy.
LSTD goes with 3 at the back, not sure on Azpi there though? Lubo shuffles the pack and comes out with a Christmas tree, not sure he gets the desired width but he does manage to stifle Liverpool though the middle – which atleast it a positive, The one concern I did have for the Ginter/Evans combo is how they would fare with the pace and power or PEA & Lukaku plus the trickery of Griezmann

FT – Liverpool 2-0 Man Utd
Luaku (Rakitic), PEA (Griezmann)

MOTM – Lukaku – has his detractors but felt he did a grand job up top today, bossed both centre-backs and created bags of space for his team-mates

Wolves vs Newcastle

Fan has worked solidly on improving Wolves, Tranq has a fantastic side and with Suarez in the team, he’ll always fancy his chances.
<redcard> Mane
Think Home advantage AND Newcastle having the man sent off made a huge difference

FT – Godin – Marshalled the defence superbly, especially when Newcastle went down to 10 men and Wolves were streaming forward in numbers

Wolves 1-1 Newcastle
Chicharito (mata)
Suarez ( firmino )

I think you read the wrong set of tactics from me tino. I didn't play rashford or depay and they were not even on the bench. I played 5 atb this week so i'll appreciate it if you can do the result again with the right tactics. Cheers.

Stoke City v Arsenal

Its not very often you can say Ronaldo has a sheite game, but for him he did today, this was also due to the fact that Marquinhos played an absolute blinder and subdued the Arsenal man, which made him more determined, but also more ball greedy. Arsenal sprayed it about very nicely, but Ronaldo was shoot on sight and it wasn't to be. Top defensive performance today by Stoke, although under the cosh for long periods of time they held firm. In particular Marquinhos..

Stoke City 0 - 0 Arsenal
MOTM - Marquinhos

Chelsea v Birmingham City

The late kick off gave both teams the opportunity to see how far the could progress with a good performance and, so, both teams had a lot to play for.

Right from the get go it was obvious that Chelsea were going to dominate the game, with Birmingham content to sit back and soak up as much pressure as they possibly could, while the superstar team from West London worked the ball over with much grace and flair.

The Great Wall of Birmingham stood firm, however, with every occasional crack in the armour being covered by a resilient Petr Cech, who will no doubt be giving Aguero nightmares for weeks.

As the game progressed, Birmingham attempted to impose themselves a little bit more on the game but all their attempts were easily dealt with by the experience Chelsea back line and the more Walker and Rose attempted to make the flanks their own, the more they were exposed and bailed out by the three centre backs and Carvalho.

It must also be said that Carvalho had a tremendous game in front of the back four, or it may be the case that Pogba had a terrible one. Either way, this ended up being one of those rare occurrences where a team sat deep for 90 minutes and actually managed to come away with a clean sheet.

Chelsea dominated every conceivable stat in this game, but the only stats that really matters is goals scored, and that was level on the night.

Chelsea 0-0 Birmingham City
MotM: Petr Cech
