Congratulations!

to Ched Evans who has today been found innocent by a jury of his peers. Let's hope that those who were so quick to condemn him will now be equally speedy in congratulating him on getting through what must have been a trying ordeal.

As many of us said at the time of his conviction, the bloke undoubtedly has the morals of an alley cat but that's a long way from being a rapist.

If Jessica Ennis and Sizzle want to buy the bloke a pint and offer their apologies I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear from them.

Lets be clear nobody has won here.

Evans lost his freedom and will never remove the tag of rapist despite todays verdict. For him hopefully the public move on and start to see past it like they did Mike Tyson.

The girl has been put through a horrendous ordeal seemingly/allegedly down to over zealous legal workers. She never made the allegation and the cps pursued it despite this.

She was humilated in court, they used people she had previously had zex with. Imagine that in front of your family having everything you have done analysed so brutally. She was forced to move house several times. How is she gonna rebuild her life?

Both have to rebuild their lives. The cps and over zealous legal team move on to the next case with no issues.

Worth noting the CPS are not answerable to anyone but i do not want to get myself in trouble by touching on this point.

The thing that really bothers me is that Ennis can hold sway on this mans life; how dare she. He served his time (the crime is now a major doubt) and has paid his debt to society. Murderers have been given more respect. How can she demand that he be ignored by his club? He is free to pursue a life in society after paying for a (dubious) crime. If I was a member of that board I would have told her to do one. She was given too much respect (probably spineless) by people who fear the accusing finger being pointed at them, that they are not being politically correct.

Did she demand he be ignored though? I thought she just wanted her name removed from the stand if he was given a new contract, which is fair enough.

Semantics! If he stays, I go
She was using her brand against him. As I said, he did his time, why should she then be judge and jury.

To be honest what has Ennis actually done to warrant her name being on the stand in the first place, she only won a medal in a sport most people could not give two shiiiites about.

I agree with you about Brexit though Sizzle.

I think my problem with Ennis getting involved was that he had already served his time for the "crime" yet she felt the need to get involved to effectively punish him further financially.

It was feck all to do with her status, but if she felt so strongly about it she could have dealt with matters privately; there was certainly no need for her views to be all over the papers and social media.

She is /was entitled to her own opinion but using her status as a celebrity to cause further hardship to a bloke who had served his sentence was out of order in my opinion.
