I remember Tannadice. It may not be the greatest stadium in world football, or even Scottish football (but definitely Dundonian football) but it has a charm to it that gives you a warm and tingly feeling inside. My memories of it are beginning to fade however, since we never seem to fecking play there anymore! Six of our last seven games I think have been away from home - and I missed the only home game in that run!
It'll be a welcome return to Tannadice then when we entertain Dumbarton on Saturday.
We said at the end of September that this run would be hugely important to our season as we were away to many of our supposed rivals. A defeat at Falkirk was disappointing, while a draw at Hibs was a positive. The wins at Dunfermline and St Mirren, particularly the latter as they have a new manager in place, were particularly pleasing and it leaves us in a decent place and only 3 points behind the leaders Hibs, who incidentally haven't won in the league in their last four games. QOTS had been going well until their spanking from Morton, which was very much a coupon buster.
Tony Andreu has been the difference for us, and what a dreamboat he is. Another brace at the weekend and the lad can't stop scoring. He's up to 5 league goals this season and has the best goals per minutes ratio in the league, scoring on average every 84 minutes (Cummings, top scorer on 8, has a goal every 89 minutes). He has a further two goals in the Irn-Bru cup. Dreamboat.
It's been a challenging start to the season but I'm optimistic that we're going in the right direction. The rebuilding job that McKinnon has done should not be dismissed and we're starting to get there, but we're far from the finished article. I still don't think we'll win the league but hopefully we can mount a good challenge.
Away from United, there was great pleasure among many Arabs on Saturday night as the Dees plummeted to the bottom of the Premiership table. Can see Hartley getting his jotters before Christmas. As we well know, selling your two best players can have catastrophic results for your club, and it must be even more galling for the Dees that they got peanuts for them. Ach well, it's a wee shame.
While there was great pleasure on Saturday, Sunday turned to utter bemusement as it was announced that former manager Jackie McNamara, who we remember resigned from his managers job at York, and then reappointed as interim manager, has somehow found his way to be the new Chief Executive of York City. Incredible. At least he knows his way around a transfer....

Yeah definitely agree about the defence. Big Willie seems to be doing ok and even Durnan was starting to look less frightening until his 2 yellows in a couple of minutes on Saturday.
Not sure about the cup game yet. It's been moved to an earlier kick off which is a bit of a pain. Hoping to go though.

16 minutes ago and no sign of CT or Pointy, I'm worried

There's a modicum of a tinge of optimism around Tannadice. Wonder how many goals we'll ship to Dumbarton to crush that optimism.
Delighted and unsurprised at Hibs' capitulation. Just shows what a 3-1 loss to Ayr United can do to a team.

Had no idea Andreu went to DUFC. I knew he was out in cold at Norwich but thought he'd stay south. I remember him doing good at Hamilton

Yes, we're clearly set up to capitulate on Saturday.
On a related note, I'd imagine Donaldson will play.
The 20s have just beaten Aberdeen 3-2. Coote hattrick.

I thought coote would've been in and around the first team by now?
Seems like we've talked about him for years

Me too mate. Hoping he features more this season.

What age is he now?
Still involved heavily with the Scotland setup i presume?

Hopefully we check it's legal to play him next time...

He's 18 now and been involved with the u19s. Not sure why his development has stalled. Maybe not been helped by our situation. Often limits bringing in kids.
