So, after struggling through the car park known as the route home via Pentagon Island, I actually only got home via my 3rd attempted diverted route which was coming through Pride Park past the iPro which gives me a smooth link to this - the match thread....(iPro = Derby County) .
Derby are a team which is building in confidence. The game on Saturday was exactly what the Vidal ordered even though 6 minutes added time (6 mins FFS?) gave cause for great consternation and angst and sweat..... but we did it 👍
Tonight Will should be fit but disconcertedly Young Max Lowe is out and could be replaced by Baird or even Butterfield. The rest should be looking to build on Saturday, however there are at least 2 players on the cusp of a ban if they pick up another
Brentford have won only one of their last six away games but we have only scored once in the first half this season

How did we leave out Alex Pearce and play Jason Shackell all last season? Keogh and Pearce, our all Irish centre backs, Mr Manic and Mr Calm.
Bryson was awful tonight, Butterfield not much better. We pressured them but no one could deliver the quality ball in to their penalty area.

Thought it was a funny game tonight, almost had the feel of a pre season fixture - seemed to be priority of structure over pressing, both sides well organised in defence but letting the other play. Despite that, it never felt like there'd be more than a goal in it.
keogh and Pearce for me already look a better partnership than Shackell in there. Much as it pains me to say it Johnson had another good game. Watching him tonight for a few minutes on and off the ball it's clear it requires a conscious effort to retain positional discipline, but he put some good tackles in and for the most part picked up his man when required.
Thought anya was lacking a bit tonight, some poor touches and decisions, but they all wasted a lot of possession tonight. Christie decided to keep hitting the first man with his crosses and butters kept killing the momentum of the game.
That said, I think we appear to be moving in the right direction, starting to see some attempts to start playing in the way maclaren presumably wants us to, just missing a goal really.

So from what I can glean from various comments and reviews over the past few weeks is that, in Alex Pearce, we've actually had a good centre back sitting there twiddling his thumbs for the past 18 months and nobody has bothered to pick him

Can't wait to see the great Chris Martin back in the team in January. Then we will see the best from Vydra who is too small to play up front on his own.
