Pies Mean Prizes???

I'm intrigued.

How many of you are having a go at the current tie-in promotional campaign of a certain savoury pastry manufacture and it's football governing body partner?

Has anyone won? If so, was it cash or a game? If a game, who did you see play?

Closest I've got so far is 9 goals....tantalizingly close....

Perhaps the statisticians amongst us with the time on their hands could work out the odds / chance of winning?

How many times have a random selection of EFL affiliated teams scored a combined total of 10 goals or more in one particular gameweek??

How many pies would you need to buy to win a prize???

I like a nice pie, but I still want to be able to choose my own seat on a flight and enjoy a quiet train journey without facing a confrontation with ' the fackin Gaffer'....http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/354342

Here's a link:

I have no affiliation to the company but could be a revenue generator amongst JA members. Perhaps you should discuss marketing options??

Just wondered if anyone had any success with this one so far.

And it is football related....

Statistically, for a purely random event, the chances of it happening again is straight afterwards. Just like if you win something on the lottery, you seem to win again the week after. That's why if Sunderland win a game, we should hope it's not the game before they play us

I've rushed through this a bit....

On the data i have, over 216 championship matches.

Here is the % chance of a team scoring this exact number of goals in a match

G
0 29%
1 34%
2 24%
3 08%
4 04%

Assuming you need one team to score three or more goals. For a given team there is a 12% chance of that happening.

Given you need two teams to do this out of the four. One team to score 3 or more you have a 48% chance of that happening. So for your three remaining teams that becomes a 36% chance.

So for two out your four to score three or more.
0.48*0.36 = 17% chance (1 in 6)

Then you have the last two teams needing at least two goals.

0.72*0.36 = 25% chance of your last two teams scoring 2 or more.

So in total 0.48*0.36*0.72*0.36 = 0.045

You have a 1 in 22 chance of getting something

Pretty shabby.

^ Great stuff

My haul of 9 goals with my 1st entry wasn't too bad.

17/09 - Randomly selected teams*:

*Southend 3 - 1 Millwall

Swindon 1 - 2 Bury*

Exeter 0 - Plymouth 2*

Grimsby 0 - 2 Crewe*

9 = TOTAL GOALS
"Please Try again"

Still. No win though...

I think that's about 1/8 chance of 9 goals
