£75M on three playes in 5 months, two of which have limited premierleague experience, is this madness or a stroke of genius?

So long as we get circa £70m for the 2 I'll help them pack.

If we signed big-name marquee signings it would be deperation but in terms of the long-term success of the club I think we're buying quite sensibly, albeit expensively.
We need to rebuild our team to a competitive standard in one summer, as well as building a foundation of young players who will become the spine of the team for years to come. Doing these things individually doesn't come cheap, but doing them at the same time is going to cost a huge amount.
I'd rather we did it this way, for years we were "2-3 players" away from being genuine title contenders. Let's get the 6-7 young talented players we need and nurture them in to a team that can challenge for the title for a number of years. It may seem expensive now, but it might just secure the long-term success and financial security of the club.

But effectively we've spent about 16million given the fact that we recouped a load of cash from the sale of Torres and a few million for Babel.
We basically just swapped two disinterested players for two hungry ones. This is therfore the first time the owners have had to dip into their pockets but we'd all be moaning if they hadn't.

Surely not relevant if Wenger refuses to spend it?! It's like a new tree falling in the woods question..... If Wenger had unlimited money would be buy any players???
Anyway, back to the point. I don't think anyone thinks Henderson is a bargain, far from it in fact, but you have a choice to make when constructing a team. If Dalglish wants a team built on British foundations then it'll cost more than if he's prepared to build from mainly foreign talent. It's the same with Phil Jones, you pay a massive premium because they are British players but if that's the strategy then you have to commit to it.
