As my moniker states unequivocally, it's gonna be a long season. Are we forever going to hark back to the halcyon days of McClaren's first stint? The simple days of N Clough? The days of Coldplay banging 'em in? Jim Smith's team of the 80s........and so on ad nauseum?
Derby entertain Sheffield Wednesday today which is neither a make or break/relgation/play-off 6 pointer......but just a match. Our visitors are flying high - for them - but I just want to see a reassuring display with a goal scored by us, at the North Stand end before 43 minutes 😳
Our midfield, once the best in the world is shot, with both Bryson and Hughes out, injured and suspended (stupid boy)respectively. Did this ever happen in the halcyon days? Hanson and Baird on stand-by.
We have seen just 2 Derby league goals this season at the iPro. This IS a problem, along with the fact that we have not scored 3 goals for 17 league games....see it does make the season longer....
Team news (is Mojaca on a world non-wi-if tour ?)

Most of the time in this situation a penalty would be given but I think the ref made the right decision, and not just because we were the beneficiaries. There was no intent to handle the ball and there was no time to get his arm out of the way. Players can't run around with their hands behind their backs. Had the player kicked it against Keogh's arm from an inch away there would not be any argument and there is no real difference. It just looks worse because he is on the line.

I've seen it a couple of times this morning and I'm still undecided. I think eight times out of ten it's given but I understand why it wasn't. If you are the attacking team it probably feels harsh. I mean the balls going in the net and it's the arm that stops it. However, if you are the defender you probably feel like you got away with one. Credit to Derby for the win. I've seen a few posts on Facebook saying Wednesday were the worst team you have played at home this season. Surely that's a bit harsh although as I've said I wasn't at the game

Wednesday were easily the best team I have seen us play this season, Sloppy. Maybe you could say that for all the good approach play there was a bit of a lack of magic in the final third but we defended extremely well. On another day Wednesday would have had the run of the ball in the box and won the game. All I would really say is that with Forestieri quiet you didn't seem to have a game-changer.

It was probably the first game they have attended this season so they may be right 😂

Thanks for the feedback guys. We rely too much on Forestieri unfortunately. We brought in Abdi from Watford in the summer but he isn't justifying the price tag at the minute and can't get in the team. We are a twenty goal a season striker away from really challenging but most of the teams in the league could say the same

Nick Blackman could be that striker, Sloppy. 20 million in January could be enough to seal the deal.

I am 95% convinced we will offload him one way or another in January. Will go down as one of the all time worse signings

The money that strikers are going for these days, if he does go we might get our money back or even more. I don't think he has been given a proper chance. Players like Mikkel Beck earned our derision over a sustained period.

Ha ha you beat us to Blackman as I recall. I was against Wednesday signing him as I remembered him playing for Sheffield United and my United mates not rating him. Hooper and Fletcher aren't prolific. Just remember Burnley going up a few seasons ago with Vokes and Ings I think it was hitting lots of goals. That said I think this league gets tougher every year and the parachute payments don't help the other teams
