Reasons to be positive

Far from a great result on Saturday, but not a disaster either. Here are some reasons to be positive.

3 points off first place
Best defence in the league
Not losing games
Missing key players (Kane and Toby, in particular), who will come back and make a difference.
Win on Sunday and we go level with Arsenal (our recent record at the Emirates has been decent; we should really have won the last two matches we played there)
Our form players from last year - Lamela, Eriksen, Kane, Dembele, Dier - haven't hit top form this. They'll come good.

It's been a slightly iffy spell, no doubt. Four draws and one defeat in the last five games, only 3 goals scored. But we're still remaining resilient and not losing, which has to count for something. Similar problems to last year, not being clinical enough.

Since that brilliant win over City (arguably our most complete performance under Poch), we haven't really been at the races. We've done things in reverse this year. Started pretty well, then had our iffy spell. Last year we started poorly and then got going. We'll come good again.

All teams have these spells. It could be worse, we could be supporting United.

The problem, this season, is the competitiveness of the top 4. 7 teams battling for 4 places. With United's struggles, that's probably down to 6. And Everton don't really convince on a consistent basis. So, for me, the top 4 will be made up of City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs this season. In what order I have no clue.

I refuse, however, to be too downbeat, with us sitting in 5th place, just 3 points off the top and 2 points off top 4. Other teams will have bad spells. At least in ours we haven't lost.

(If we get mashed by Arsenal, you all have permission to throw all this positivity back in my face.)

First, though, we need a big performance and win against Bayer. No more messing around. Last 4 Spurs games I've attended we've lost. I'm becoming an unhappy jink. Let's hope Wednesday, at Wemberley, changes that. COYS!

2 tap ins this season and missed sitters= rubbish. I was talking about this season before the injury. Last 2 seasons don't count for points this season do they so wake up.

How many did he score in the last few matches last season? Last 4 matches were 2 draws and 2 defeats to dross, where was Kane? I will repeat, before the injury THIS SEASON he was rubbish.

Sandy, you need a brain scan or your eyes tested if you think Kane was good before this season's injury. Let's hope the rest does him good.

Judging Kane as rubbish is just brainless, he is quality. Every player can have a dip in form. Even when he is not scoring he is working hard for the team to create something. I hope that he is the one to galvanise our miss-firing team when he comes back. He works well with Alli and I think Son is one we should believe in also. I must admit that I am getting frustrated with Eriksen who is supposed to be our main creative force. He would not be in my first eleven at the moment sadly.

Kane is quality but not at the moment is what I'm saying. I don't know why Poch doesn't play N'Koudou feeding Vince, I'm convinced it would work.

I liked what I saw of Nkoudou the first time I saw him play but he looked poor against Liverpool. Our whole team didn't turn up that night though. I think him and Winks deserve more respect until we can judge them over several appearances. The same is true of the other younger players, there is some real quality there. The defeat against Liverpool just made me mad. loosing to an average Liverpool side managed by that lunatic Klopp. He is like their cheer leader at times the way he jumps up and down on the touchline. The press go mad for him as well which I don't get. He may well turn out to be a good manager in England but let's wait until he justifies the credit! Liverpool have done nothing yet under Klopp, so why is he getting so many plaudits? Grrrrrrrrrr

How's that optimism going?

Zlatan and co can't keep finishing like an amateur. Spurs in a way are similar to Man Utd as in they can't score goals for the domination in games.
