Time to congratulate Monk

What a fantastic job Garry Monk and his coaching team has done for us so far. Here's my thoughts on some of their finest achievements.

Bringing in Bartley, Jansson and Ayling. (Who else thought we needed another RB?)
Transforming Wood into an effective striker. (Is it Beattie who has done this?)
Doubling Doukara's effectiveness. (Beattie again?)
Creating a well balanced passing team with clearly defined roles the players can understand and follow.
Improving every player in the squad, with the possible exception of Mowatt and Taylor. (Who is still twice the player that Luke Shaw is, based on recent performances.)
Scoring goals from corners. Who us?
Gagging Cellino. (Well somebody has and long may it continue.)

Take bow Garry, Pep, James and the others. We salute you.

We haven't played the way we play now for years at all, we haven't attempted to play football for the best part of 4 years until now.

Under Redfearn we played a little better than all the others and there were a few good patches but it was still hoof ball after a while.

Its not been pleasant to watch for a long, long time. I cant remember the last time I looked forward to a game outside of this season.

We have a solid defence who can play out from the back but we still have the players in midfield who can play the passing game too. The ball seems to stick to us now, there's no panic. It helps that we have Pablo and Wood playing to his full potential though.

I think the team has struggled with confidence for years, having 2 solid center backs as well as pace (sacko) and and in form striker has changed the way can make decent football work.

Under Redfearn same as the others for years we've had too little quality in the team, we've now got key players all over.

When was the last time we had a spine all the way through the side?

I'm trying not to get carried away but I don't think we are far off. Still uneasy that most of our best players are only loanees but if we can tie these down, along with Monk then if we don't go up this season, next season is the one.

^^^^^ Agree.

I'm not that nervous about the loanees. Pontus deal
has us in the driver's seat. Plus he wants to be here.
Pablo I believe is already agreed for January. Bartley
has been the equal of Pontus, if not as cultish, so he
is definitely less of a lock to stay. And Sacko's contract
clause is a stumbling block potentially. But, I have a
good feeling all four will stay. Hope Grimes doesn't.

Monk & Pep & Backroom staff have been great.
I'm also confident they'll stay longer term.

Was we not getting run ragged until Redder's changed the system?..

We played the way the bossmanager wanted and nobody knows if he was for or against when Redder's changed it and we won a few!..

Mind you, he cant have been, or he'd treat Redder's a little differently to the way he did!..
