Relationship between Left and Fascism

As a lefty myself it's always puzzled how a Fascist can be so dangerous and cruel on so many yet be on the left of the argument on many other key issues. The likes of Hitler, Mao Zedong and now Trump have all been on the very far left on many other issues apart from their views on ethnic minorities, foreign relations and war.

Donald Trump had turned republican only 6 years before he ran for president and even funded 4 of the Clintons political campaigns as a Democrat. During his time as a Democrat he campaigned on issues like gaining universal health-care, increasing taxes, amnesty etc.

So how can people with so many socialistic views also at the same time be willing to cause so much terror and death on a large number of people.

FYI I do not think every person on the left is a Fascist. I'm just fascinated how so many dangerous men have been on the left of the argument on many other key issues. I always thought the right were the dangerous people.

Perhaps Israel should take up Communism if they want to be looked on favourably

The Palestinians would go from terrorist extremists to oppressed freedom fighters like a flash....

Be nice in a way because we'd dislike both sides so might actually get a bit of a fairer view of the conflict.

Yeah I guess that's partially why the Soviets backed them with arms very early on, both the superpowers were making a play for Israel.

TBH given the way we back Israel I don't think them turning communist would actually change much really.

If they became an enemy of the West then they would be portrayed in a very different way.

As opposed to those on the left who defended the record of the likes of Mao, Lenin and Stalin
....................................

No sane person can 'defend' mass murder regardless of their hue of politics.

We are taught about the multiple wars that have been fought throughout history, from Julius Casear to Earl Haig, is there is an argument to say they are mass murderers as they knowingly committed their troops to slaughter or be slaughtered for political aims?
Nelson against the Jacobites, Wellington/Napoleon, and the most callous of them all Truman against the Japanese who had bombed Pearl harbour for political gains. They no doubt all thought they were doing the right thing but they were all against an enemy who's politics they disagreed with.

Fair points.

Just to clarify, I do not defend apartheid, white supremacy , and know folk claiming to be christian are not always liberal.

I am not a Trump fan, and actually dislike the man, with his ego and crass personality.

I have only posted about Putin in recent weeks, and am not a fan of him either.

I am intetested in how those who claim to be liberalleft go all anti- democratic, if the so called thick racist ebs vote the wrong way, or hold different views

I oppose right and left and other lunatics, in Castro or Pinochet, mugabe or assad.

I actually defend liberal values, banging on against all racism, natzi nutters, uvf or pira skum, and of course islamist murder gangs....while also countering all fundamentalism, homophobia, sexism against women and men, and thick dregs who just shout f allah etc.

Just sayin like 😊

Appreciate the clarification.

The escalations on here, with hindsight, are hilarious. Wouldn't be the first time I've read and/or participated in threads where posters take a stance and being a bunch of stubborn cants that refuse to cede an inch things frequently get out of hand.

As it stands, although they go against my wishes, I HOPE Brexit works, I HOPE Trump isn't as scary as his campaign rhetoric but Putin will always be a baldy wee bassa who's mid-life crisis could very well bring the end-of-days.

Thran Ulster Scots that we are, Hec πŸ˜€

Brexit in tory hands could be a problem, and it really is the great unknown now.Still, glad I voted leave.A patriotic working class movement is now global,, bucking globalization, rich elites, hardline socialsm and rampant capitalism.

Trump is bluster personified, but the establishment elite hilary, calling fifty million voters deplorables seriously backfired.
Trump may be safer than the clinton's regarding russia, midldle east, nato, and sadly we may have to do deals wi Assad and Putin, to curb isis.

Austria and France could collapse the Eu with le Pen and Freedom party polling well, from a radical populist perspective.

...............................

Not sure how one action could stop both...

Although TBH I'm not sure what crazy world you live in if you think hardline socialism is doing anything in Britain...

Regular socialism is struggling enough...

If you aren't a fan of socialism you generally end up supporting the globalisation, rich elites and rampant capitalism...

I don't know why you keep group socialists with capitalists.... it's like claiming Corbyn and Thatcher/Blair are the same...

If they were the media wouldn't have made such a fuss about Corbyn, he's outside the establishment... so right up your alley...
