What a success this has been
Chelsea, Everton, Stoke, West Ham, West Brom all going out with ONE win between them
And people were worried about "B" teams being introduced into the league system would make it harder for lower clubs to progress!!
308 people watched Middlesbroughs game against Shrewsbury, 762 bothered with Northampton v West Ham and only 2 of 24 games attracted more than 1500.
And then there is the penalty shoot-outs to decide who gets an extra point in a drawn game. Okay when there is something to play for, but more than one dead rubber last night went to a shoot-out. Chelsea and Oxford shared 34 penalties, with Chelsea winning 13-12.
After most of the top Premier League clubs declined the invitation, and with the gross apathy towards it from many of those who did take part, I think there is a good chance this will be a one-off for the likes of Chelsea and Everton.
EFL Trophy and U-21s...

Think Everton will continue if the format is unchanged.
Allows players not making the U23's to get competitive level games

nice bit of game time for Wolves' unders so for that reason it's all good...bit unfair on the big teams U21's (not gonna include Albion obviously) as it's during the internationals so they lose their U21's down to the U18's

Wolves seem to have done well. Bright Enobakhare seems to be shining so far - is he a talent?

Yes, but it is still a draw. You get an extra point for a penalty shoot-out win, and the losers get the normal 1 point.

Think it may be better if they dropped the group stage. Maybe a 2 legged first round instead

The timing seems daft also, on international weeks so that the 'best' youngsters have gone away to feature for their respective nations.

Ah fair enough DJ. I thought last night's game was a straight knockout, such is my level of interest
