Where are the England cricket supporters?? I
know there are 2 articles up - but tired with the Pak v India politics on here. This article will be England v India only and primarily cricket. All welcome to contribute but only if it's related to England series.
Thank you

Also hameed and Jennings are untested in pace friendly conditions. The composition of the team can change considerably if they find it hard to score runs this summer

Stokes averaged a tad under 40 which for your number 6 is very decent.
Not sure why he seems to be the fall guy when England do badly.
It's such an English mentality to have a go at our best players.
England lost because our spin bowling is rubbish. Forget the collapses. England's second innings scores were actually competitive scores for 3rd/4th innings in India (look at the stats).
It's the fact our spin bowlers are rubbish and allowed them to rack up 700 etc that lost us the series.

He averages 33, which is not good enough for a top 6 bat.
He's a 7 for me. But then who bats 6, and what do you do with Moeen (if anything) ?
I think i'd be inclined to start the summer :
5. Bairstow
6. Billings/Buttler
7. Moeen
8. Stokes/Woakes
9. Wood
10. Broad
11. Anderson

He does indeed but his stats are going upwards and upwards.
He's been playing test cricket since the age of 22 and only recently found his role in the team. He's still only 25!
Same with Root. People criticise yet forget how young they are still. They're not close to. Ring in their prime.

Agree slightly but i would get rid of Moeen completely as a spinner and put his as a batter or backup.
Cook, Hameed, Jennings, Root, Bairstow, Butler (wk) Stokes, Woakes, Broad, Anderson, Leech.
I'd go with that team for a couple of series unless its goes woefully wrong. could easily drop Butler and give Bairstow the gloves and pop Ali at 5 as a batter only.
The quicker england realise they need a specialist spinner in the team the better. NZ, Aus, SA all have a specialist spinner and so should england.

He's never averaged above 38 in any season.
This year he's averaged 34.

Not sure how that is relevant? These two have been bought up in England (well Hameed has) so batting against the swinging ball should be less of an issue than going to the sub cont and play spin.

Hameed plays his home games at Old Trafford too which is a bouncy deck

And Jennings has been bought up on the quick bouncy South African tracks

Why would we get rid of \Moeen completely??? hes got 3 /100s in recent tests matches..Hes failed in the rest.. But England have collapsed a lot to lose games in second innings. As for Struggling with the swinging ball.
Indian batsmen will not get away with pushing forward and hitting ball knee high in England..They will knick off a lot.
That's if conditions suit.. No doubt the money men at the ecb will produce grassless lifeless pitches in that series in 2 years..
