Jordan Mutch

Celtic set to swoop for Crystal Palace star Jordon Mutch in £2.5million move - from everyone's favourite Scottish tabloid, the Record

Celtic could land Crystal Palace outcast Jordon Mutch for a cut-price £2.5 million.

The 24-year-old is on his way out of Selhurst Park and will be sold in January if the Londoners can find a buyer.

Mutch cost Palace £4.75 million less than two years ago when they signed him from QPR.

However, he has played just eight minutes in the English Premier League this term and the Eagles will be willing to do business in the mid-season transfer window.

Mutch’s current wages of around £35,000 per week would need assessed by Parkhead chiefs, but Mutch will be allowed to go by boss Alan Pardew for a half-decent fee to free-up wages for his own January dealings.

Parkhead manager Brendan Rodgers has a host of midfielders on his radar and Aston Villa are also on the trail of the player, who was recalled to the squad and an unused sub during his side’s 2-1 weekend loss to Manchester City.

Mutch started his senior career at Birminghgam City and, after loan spells at Hereford United, Doncaster Rovers and Watford, really hit the heights when reunited with old Vicarage Road gaffer Malky Mackay.

The player enjoyed a fine two seasons in Wales and performed in the top-flight before QPR splashed out £6 million just over two years ago.

Mutch lasted just months at Loftus Road before going to Palace, but Pardew has frozen him out of the squad for the majority of this term and he can leave along with the likes of sidelined striker Fraizer Campbell.

So what do you think?

I remember him being decent at Cardiff but that was a while back. A few weeks ago I was hoping for midfield reinforcements in January but now I am happy for Armstrong to be given an extended run and new player may jeopardise that.

I don't really know Murnetti as it was primary school and I never became a fully fledged bigot until I left school

Pfft I blame your parents. How can you expect to succeed if you don't start early

I've not seen much of the boy but what I did see of him he looks tidy on the ball but not exactly a threat going forward.

Like said above, I'd have to trust BR's judgement on this one.

Is it him that's good at throw-ins?

Actually a player I like, wondered what happened to him. One of those long shot specialists. Probably useful for Celtic in the CL, where defences are better organised.
