Bellerin Signs New Contract

Hector Bellerin has signed a new long-term contract.

The 21-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League’s outstanding full-backs since breaking into the first team in 2014/15.

Last season he firmly established his place in our back four, making 44 appearances in all competitions and creating nine goals - third only to Mesut Ozil and Alexis.

Hector’s displays earned him a place in the 2015/16 PFA Team of the Year and a call up to the Spain national team for Euro 2016.

Having previously played for Barcelona, Hector joined us as a scholar in 2011. He impressed at youth level before making his first-team debut in the League Cup in September 2014.

We look forward to Hector’s continued progress with the club in the years to come.

The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory process.

With us till 2023 £100,000 a week, when you look at the wages we are paying some of our players,ie Walcott it seems a good deal.

Of course there will be a buy out clause!

I'd love Barca to go in a pound above.

There is no buy out clause, why the fack would we do that?

Only English clubs who can't get into the CL put buy out clauses in their players' contracts

Is he even ours fully or is this "long term deal" actually just a long term loan extension allowing Barca to recall him whenever they feel ready? The long term element is meaningless if he's still not actually owned by Arsenal. The lack of detail on BBC suggests this is the club blowing smoke to mask the fact we still haven't fully safeguarded against losing him on anyone's terms but our own.

I agree with the above, soon as Barca want him back, he's gone. And there will be nothing in this supposedly long term deals to stop that happening. Other than us laying out some ridiculous sum of money for the player we developed.
