Are you really seeing a improvement? Or are some of you trying to stay positive?
A lot of United supporters I have seen have spoken about giving Mourinho more time, which is fine as its good to be patient with managers. However, it also makes me wonder why Van Gaal wasn't given a little bit more time to build. Now I understand his time at United wasn't perfect, but it makes no sense that you replaced him with the absolute opposite kind of manager United are hoping for. At least you could have been patient enough to wait for a more suitable manager to come along.
Whats stranger is that Mourinho left Chelsea a few points above the relegation zone. You sacked a manager who finished 5th (below City on goal difference) and won the FA cup, with a manager who left Chelsea in a complete mess, leaving some long term ramifications to his time there. Its really only taken a superb manager to solve a solution to the complete flaws in a squad which Jose had time and money to build.
This year you would have probably have been better off under Van Gaal. I know some wanted him gone to improve the style of play, and I know United have been playing some pretty good stuff. However, Mourinho is more than willing to take that style away and play very dogged football. And trust me that style is as bad a style of play you will probably ever have to watch.
Was it really worth sacking Van Gaal

I would say yes but only if Jose is allowed to see tis through.
Our football is improving to be fair and is as good as it has been (not difficult granted) since SAF retired.
We do need to get rid of the caution that does set in when we're a goal ahead with a few minutes to go though and keep at it. We've shoown this season that we can go on and get 3 or 4 so we should always try and do that every game. I've no qualms about being disciplined but yesterday we dropped far too deep and paid for it. I'm not advocating being gung ho but we should have the confidence to keep doing what we've been doing the rest of the game well and see it through.
I actually think the defence has been better this season in many ways as we're more attacking and De Gea still has less saves to make.
It is frustrating but I would give Jose time with this now. We're not a million miles away but we need that final piece of the jigsaw, which I think now is more confidence than anything else, to push on.
As it stands top 4 is a long way off but you never know what can happen. We're 9 points behind Liverpool, but if we can claw back 3 points over Christmas and then beat them at OT it's then down to a more managable 3 points. Clutching at straws maybe but we have to have that aim. First things first though. We simply have to get at least 12 points in December, IMO, to have a chance.

I miss all those articles we had last year that went under the following topics;
1. 0-0 half time
2. I want to be entertained, I do not care about results
3. Moyes had x points after this number of games, bring back Moyes
One is tempted to apply some of that logic to some of the comments on here from people with short memories

Some people thought it was a quick fix, football does not work like that.
You have to praise LvG for taking the team that finished 7th to 4th in his first season and matching the 4th placed team in the league plus an FA cup win whilst managing an injury crisis of epic proportions

Haha, yeah that's totally a fair way of describing van gaal's time in charge

It's fragile.
And it will break.
I've got you down at 4th in January.
5th in May.

Based on what exactly?!
Let's hear your reasoning please.

"2. I want to be entertained, I do not care about results"
That's the one that makes me laugh the hardest. I said similar, but I still agree with it. I'm happier with us in seventh place watching this stuff than I'd be with us in fourth place watching more of LVG's football.
Others who said it are watching inarguably much better football but are now crying their eyes out about our league position

What amuses me the most mate is that last season I said the football was sht but as he was getting results, I would bite my tongue
The about face by some has been spectacular
Football is not easy and Jose needs time to sort out what he inherited and get to know the players.
It is fun reminding these people of their views though

I've just bigged your pragmatism up on another thread btw MUDD.
I thought you'd be giving it to Jose both barrels this season if everything didn't go swimmingly, but unlike some of the others who were particularly partisan over the last couple of seasons, you've given him a very fair crack

Thing is I detest Jose, but the scale of the task is immense as is the pressure.
A lot of people on here do not understand me, I am pleased to see you understand me perfectly
