Premier League Team of 2016

Who would be in your Premier League team of the calendar year 2016? Mine would be:

De Gea (Man Utd)
Bellerin (Arsenal) Luiz (Chelsea) Huth (Lester) Azpilicueta (Chelsea)
Drinky (Lester) Kante (Lester/Chelsea)
Mahrez (Lester) Hazard (Chelsea) Alexis (Arsenal)
Costa (Chelsea)

Bench: Schmeichal (Lester), Bailly (Man Utd), Fuchs (Lester), Payet (Man Utd), Coutinho (Liverpool), Vardy (Lester), Rashford (Man Utd)

Leave your own teams below dudes!

calendar year 2016 = roughly 60% last season, so you can't include bailly or luiz. spurs had the best defence last season (bar their meaningless games when the title had gone) and the best this, so alderweireld should be there, and you could make a case for both their CBs.

drinky may suffer from a very poor season this year, probably take him out. replace him with aguero, who is averaging a goal a game over his past season. kante can hold midfield on his own.

vardy's scoring rate slowed dramatically in the second half of last season, and this year has been poor, so he's out. thought you liked okazaki anyway?

and as others have said, rashford is just silly...unbelievable you could have him on the bench but not aguero or de bruyne?

And Pep would be the manager right? Instead of 2016 failure Mourinho.

Sanchez is hit and miss.

2 great games, followed by 2 poor games, followed by 2 average games.

he has 11 goals and 4 assists this season, according to you he can have had at most 6 great games this season, which means his great games must be really great games.

he hasn't quite got the consistency of the really top players, i'll give you that, but he has been a 1 in 2 player at arsenal from the moment he joined, with 80% of those games coming from the wing.

none of de bruyne, hazard, firmino, martial etc are better than 1 in 3, so a bit harsh to label him as badly inconsistent. or, at the very least, even when he plays badly he can still chip in with goals, which is a decent quality to have.

Ffs Totts ain't special. I don't just make my lists/teams specifically thinking "hmm which totts players can I leave out of this one". I just make my lists and if there aren't any totts players there aren't any totts players.
