I have been highly critical of the german in the last few games as he has been very casual and sloppy but boy will we miss him. I have confidence in Holding who I think will come in rather than Gabriel, but there are other extras to Mustafi's game which we will need in this Christmas period and I dont think Holding will provide them.
The first and most important quality we will miss is his ball playing ability and its something we will miss against City. Even in the few minutes on the pitch yesterday he created Theo's one on one chance from deep. Its something we will need at the Etihad as i think City will come at us.
The second quality is his recovery pace. Its the one thing that makes us hard to beat now.We have been opened up by teams repeatedly this season but the recovery pace of Kos and Mustafi means the opposition are never certain of a goal even with what looks like clear opportunities. Again he is the type of defender we will need more at City than against Everton but i suppose we will just have to grind out a result.
I do like the way Wenger has managed the defence this season. Gibbs may feel hard done after his midweek performance but he must do more to unsurp Monreal. Bellerin has improved massively after a sloppy start and Kos has been amazing.
If only the talk of Alaba saying he would like to play for Arsenal could materialise into a bid from us this summer. Apparently Jose is sniffing around for the austrian meaning he has no faith in Shaw.
If we are not getting a striker Alaba is the player we should prioritise.
Mustafi out for 3 weeks

Think Gabriel will get the nod over holding due to decent performances at right back.

Gabriel actually looks pretty good this season. Maybe his stint at RB will make him a better CB, much longer Monreal when he played CB and was unbeatable at LB.

Gabriel looks a different player since that tragic Brazilian incident..
Maybe all the emotion and pain might have brought him some perspective and clarity to his own life?

Xhaka should be too but for some poor officiating.

He's not even looking at him, his elbow is below shoulder height and Allen's already falling over.

the pictures only showing how silly Allen is to run into Xhaka to win the ball.

Alaba wants to play in midfield. If he leaves Bayern, then never to a club who plan to field him as full back.
