He's leaving Madrid either next month or in the summer. Tremendous talent, one of the most naturally technical players and huge marketing and on the pitch potential.
The move to Madrid should've worked out for him but hasn't. I think Madrid mishandled this one, but he has to take some blame too.
However at Arsenal he will be at centre stage so could thrive. Will be expensive, but worth it. Neither Ozil or Alexis have signed contracts yet, and may not do so. He's a direct replacement for Ozil and Reus for Alexis.
Personally I think in terms of pure talent he is amongst the top 5.

I rate Rodriguez, very good at creating from deep, and playing between the lines whilst scoring ~1 in 3, and getting a lot of assists as well.

The way ozil is playing at the moment, I'd take James as a direct replacement for him, but ideally I'd keep Mesut & change managers. Only Arsene could fluck up the best number 10 in the world!

Rodriguez is very good but not excellent. To buy him in the January window would be at the opportunity cost of buying an established world class striker (which is what we need).
This is what we always do. We buy a 'stop gap' with the intention of development but it seldom comes off. Essentially what we are doing is clogging up the system and preventing others from signing. I'd prefer not to buy anyone during this window and spend big in the summer than buy another 'panic buy'.

Yeah bit weird when English commentators try to be foreign with names. The foreigners stick to how they pronounce it in their language. Worst is when they call Spanish players with two L's as y, like Beyerin or David Viya instead of Bellerin or Villa.
