To help get the best out of Barkley in Koemans system.?
Alongside Gana/McCarthy and Morgan can he operate in that three?
For me he would add the legs that Barry doesn't while allowing Barkley and Gana/McCarthy to look forward and create more/support Lukaku.

Deffo get Schneiderlin, Barry is finished at this level, especially with the style of play Koeman wants - I just can't understand why he's been given a contract extension.

Without knowing the details of the contract I would guess it has options for both sides and offers some coaching role?

possibly, just as long as he's nowhere near the starting XI or subs bench
