gb, I feel it's better to have had Coady further up the field that a CB. Plus both Batth and Coady were defending too deep in my opinion. I am aware that both CB's go up for set pieces, but Stearman was neither defending or attacking. He was marking an empty space with no one near him.
I guess we could go on all day, but my opinion of RS will not change. I'd rather see one of our up and coming kids or a fit Williamson at CB that RS who I thought we had got rid of for good. Thank you Thelwell.

WITSS - my point is not about yr opinion of stearman in general, it is that as all you have seen is the 10 second clip of the goal you cannot have any real understanding of the situation for that goal. you can't know who was where on the pitch in the build up to the goal, or what happened to lead to it.
on that basis, saying stearman was at fault just makes you look foolish, or biased, or both.
no problem with you holding a general opinion on any of the players. but to comment on very specific moments in a match that you haven't seen, and on play that you haven't even seen in the highlights, makes no sense. if you don't see the point I am making on that then yes there is no point discussing further.

I do think the whole nature of people forming views on players based on a few minutes highlights has blighted football for many years. How many times have we signed players that have looked good on highlight videos or have scored a few spectacular goals and then when we saw them playing for 90 minutes week in week out get disappointed cause we now realise they make mistakes too.
I think there's two sides to that problem. One is that players for other clubs get built up because they look good for a few minutes a week. Secondly that when people watch Wolves every week and see a player doing well for 88 minutes and making a couple of mistakes in the other two minutes, they go away remembering those mistakes, not realising that every player in the world makes a bad pass or a defensive error or misses a scoring chance occasionally.
Don't think there is any striker I have watched that I have seen miss more chances than Steve Bull, but if you are scoring 300 plus goals also, who cares. Stearman makes mistakes as does Batth and I thought both were poor last Saturday, but from the players at the club at the moment they would still be my first choice centre backs

Yes, the YouTube era of football management leaves a lot to be desired

"You tube!" used to be an insult thrown at players back in the days when I was spinning a football rattle around my head.

Thing is that we sign players good enough for top European sides and then label them crap based on a handful of games in our garbage non footballing division.

I'm not sure I faulted RS for their first goal gb. Just questioned the need for him to be in no mans land. We did give the ball away for their first goal, I agree, but the pass completely bypassed RS as he was marking no one. I do feel he was at fault for not jumping for their second. We certainly need a taller CB in January as we do find it hard to defend crosses, especially corners.
