Friday night saw the most abject of performances from the Terrors which saw them soundly beaten by a far superior Hibs team.

I wasn't able to go to the game and I'm glad that I didn't. Very rarely does a performance make me angry, but I was raging on Friday night at the way we were allowed to be absolutely steamrollered by Hibs.

I thought they were terrific to be honest. They flew out the traps and blew us away. However we were beyond awful. The two full backs particularly had horrific games. Why Paul Dixon was allowed to walk back into the team after injury is beyond me, and we've gone from keeping clean sheets every week to conceding sloppy goals since he's came back in. Humphries pace was always going to cause him problems but he never got close to him all night. Toshney has long been a concern for me and he was even worse. He made Boyle look like a world class winger.

The midfield was terrible, and in particular Willo Flood. He flogged a goal with a weak header, gave the ball away all night and generally did nothing. He wasn't helped by the players around him - every single player on the park was poor - but he was particularly bad.

The third goal summed it up. Hopeless.

I'm normally a positive person and seek positives in defeat but to be honest I saw no positives whatsoever in that performance. We were soundly beaten by a better team, a team who had three strikers on the bench and a Scotland cap, and that was the difference. The resources Hibs have will make the difference and they'll definitely come up automatically. I maintain that the play-offs will be too difficult for us. We simply aren't good enough.

Our only hope now is that Hibs bottle it.

I like St Johnstone and how much they hate the Dundee teams, while we barely notice they exist. They love their "derby". Bless them.

Absolute shocker on Friday. He really needs to drop Dixon and get Robson back in the team. Starting to wonder if there's more to the van der Struijk (sp?) situation than we're being told, heard a story that his wife is really homesick and is struggling here, hope he doesn't up sticks and leave as he's far more reliable than Toshney and Dillon.

I was surprised that McKinnon is trying to shoehorn Murdoch into the team, one of the things that has worked well for us lately is the partnership between Flood and Telfer. I know Telfer has more than his fair share of critics, but he does all the ugly stuff that usually goes unnoticed in but but which is vital - he hassles guys on the ball and knows when to make the safe pass. He was dropped for the Dumbarton match which we lost, Murdoch was squeezed in for the Hibs match and we got horsed. Granted Willo was honking (why did he keep passing the ball sideways into our own box?!?) but I don't understand why you would split up a formation which has been keeping clean sheets and wining matches.

To be honest the last couple of results have been coming to a certain extent, we haven't exactly been beating teams comprehensively and have been riding our luck a fair bit. Maybe a wee of training with the. Ew striker will see a change this Saturday. I hope so. QotS picked up their first win since about September at the weekend - the catalyst...? John Rankin!! New captain, set up their first goal. Honestly...

In summary - drop Dixon, Murdoch and van der Velden (ok, I didn't mention him before the summary but tough) and be good, not rubbish.

Watched most of it, particularly as I had Hibs score and win on and was waiting on a Utd goal

Said it last season about that boy Fraser in the midfield, he's far too lightweight, slow and not fit enough to compete in there

In all honesty, Hibernian looked like a premiership team and United looked very much a Championship side.

Long way to go though and hopefully both come up

Looking forward to another easy 9 points next season when you scrape thru the playoffs.

Between yourselves, Hibs, and Rangers that'll be a minimum 27-36 points in the bag

Bit harsh to blame Flood for a weak header. Why the hell he was in a position to header is anybody's guess. But he was still awful and I don't think Murdoch and Flood will be a good partnership. I'm with you and don't see why Murdoch was immediately put back in to a winning team.
I'm going to get bloody annoyed if McKinnon ends up being another manager who tries to cram in as many centre midfielders as possible into the team. It doesn't work!

Also pace, we really need pace. Aside from Murray all of our attacking players are either too slow or too Obadeyi. VdV in particular was utterly awful again - I'd say as bad as either of the full backs.
