Let's have an update on what's happening in and around Tannadice shall we?

Transfer news - after completing the signing of Danish frontman Mikkelsen last week, Ray McKinnon is still after one or two more players, highlighting the wide midfield area and another striker as priorities. He's bang on you know, this is exactly what we need.

Going the other way, and there's mounting speculation that Simon Murray has been offered a deal by a Canadian outfit who play in the tier below MLS in North America. This is a pre-contract, with Murray becoming out of contract in the summer. It's not yet clear if the local lad will pack up and go, although he does apparently have family out there.

Looking to the upcoming fixtures, and there are a few games which have been moved for television.

United play Raith Rovers at Tannadice on 4 February, a game which will feature on BBC Alba with a 5.15 kick off. The Irn-Bru cup semi final at Palmerston will also be on Alba with a 5.15 kick off two weeks later, while United's game away at Hibs in April will be moved to the Friday night for BT sport. It's also been announced that our away trip to Ayr that month will be on Alba. The tv people will obviously be hoping that there will be a title battle underway as we enter the final few games of the season at that stage.

Looking to the weekend, United entertain Queen of the South at Tannadice and there may well be question marks over the game taking place, with snow falling in Dundee overnight and temperatures set to plummet. Assuming United aren't tight and put the undersoil heating on, the main risk would be around supporter safety in the stands. Let's hope the game goes ahead.

Team news for the game - United will send out a team of XI players for the game, while QotS are likely to do the same. Who those players will be is as yet uncertain, however Queens are likely to field their new signing and, bizarrely, new captain John Rankin. United may well field Thomas Mikkelsen, despite the player returning from a holiday in Africa to sign for the Terrors last week. Everyone with United in their hearts will be hoping Jamie Robson returns to the team in place of Paul Dixon. This is probably unlikely though.
