Liverpool as underdogs

As has been shown many times in the past, forms goes out of the window in these derby games. Mentality and coping with the intensity is more important. When United came to Anfield we were flying and they were well below average. It didn't matter.

I still think we have an issue with dominating games as favorites and showing our quality when the world is watching. That's why starting this game as underdogs suits us. It's a question of which Liverpool is going to turn up. Perhaps we'll surprise a few people as there has been a harder underbelly to Liverpool and the ability to shut out teams this season, notably at Chelsea and Middlesbrough away.

If the occasion doesn't get to us, I think we have enough quality to put United away. All these talks of this United player vs that Liverpool player are garbage. It's a team game. We've got a good system that when firing is almost impossible to handle.

I'd take a draw now but believe we can be quietly confident of getting a real result here.

Because City are useless against you. They have an utterly dismal record vs Liverpool throughout pl era.

Your hardest and toughest Game is tomorrow and you know it.

And this is the hardest fixture you've had in months!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You're definitely the hardest of all the non winners of the pl, that's for sure.

spurs at home was just as tough but yeah I think the fact its Liverpool does add a tiny bit more to it

Traditionally Liverpool is our biggest match. It is for me.

Results wise it's not been our toughest over pl era though. We have 27 wins to Liverpool's 13.

Chelsea is a tougher match. Not bigger or more important though.

Good article.

Worry is seeing how on fire Spurs are at the moment (2 up against WBA). If Man C and Arsenal get good results (the latter with +4 goal difference) and we lose against the old foe we'll be out of the Top 4.
Then the questions will need to be asked I think.

It just shows how competitive it is this season. Whatever happens, two good teams are not going to get Champions League football.

I thought it was 5 if either us or spurs win Europa but finish outside top 4?

I was just going to say that, one of them could if they win the Europa League.

Spurs will rest players in Europa I reckon. They have a great chance of title if this Costa thing doesnt resolve itself.

Spurs had a better chance of the title last year.

They will bottle it again when it comes to April/May.

I'm going for a bore draw, 0 - 0.
Mourinho scores for both teams.
