Wolves vs City
Two improving sides going all out here today, Fan finally got his man in Stroots and he's a good addition to that City team, both sides looked to get hold of the midfield and dominate from there, some nice match-ups all over the field, Wolves have a lovely blend in their front 4, some nice technique a good amount of pace and in Lukaku (although I am a big critic) brings a lot of power. City have added a fair whack of pace but not the most consistent of wide-men, when they're on it, they're on it...Icardi though is a great finisher.
Full time Wolves 2-1 City
Lukaku (Mata) (Bernadeschi)
Icardi (Walcott)
MOTM - Strootman - unlucky to be on the losing side, controlled the midfield but his attackers failed to capitalise on their chances.
Pompey vs Chelsea
I like Pompeys formation as it gives them a strong foothold. However, I'm not sure on Rabiot and Matuidi in there together, would maybe bring in a ball player instead? The front three would cause Chelsea all kinds of problems - Fan sticks to his 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and it gives him a superb front four, I still feel maybe his defence is his Achilles heel (not saying it's poor, but in comparison to the attack) BUT I imagine them out-gunning Pompey - who because of the lack of spark in the middle to really get them going, couldn't massively force Chelsea back.
Full Time
Pompey 1-3 Chelsea
Lewa (Coman)
Aguero (Pogba) Neymar (Sergio) Bonucci (Sanchez corner)
MOTM - Biscuits - love him or loathe he did the dirty work well for his team, helped nullify pompeys midfield and set the foundation for some lovely attacking play by the Chels Arsenal v Aston Villa
A fiery encounter with a much needed 3 points needed by both, tackles flying in and no mercy being given, sloppy goals given away first by Villa as they allowed Higuain in to score, then by Arsenal who Villa had Benzema to thank, it was anything but a specatle but exciting all the same and this continued into the 2nd half, a midfield battle not for the faint hearted, Arsenal had a quick break way goal tho when Chiellini made a fine tackle on Benzema and launched it forward, for some reason marchisio was up there he controlled it well and booted it into the back of the net, while celebrating tho Villa drove forward and before you knew it was back to level pegging as Robben found plenty of room and drilled one in low to make it 2-2, subs were made a it was Villa's who made the headlines, Yaya Toure, a very late, lazy tackle on Marchisio saw him given his marching orders, he had only been on the park 3 minutes, silly boy, Villa were up against it but managed to hold on and both teams went away from this with not much learnt
Arsenal 2 - 2 Aston Villa
Higuain(Silva 12), Marchisio(Chiellini,62)
Benzema(KDB,39), Robben(63)
MOTM - Marchisio
Yaya Toure
Liverpool v Hull
A game too far possibly for Hull City, they showed great energy in the first half but Liverpool contained them and didn't allow much into there box. Liverpool themselves when in possession at times were a delight to watch and scored two quickfire goals, Both from Griezmann assisted by Coutinho and Rakitic, this didn't stop Hull from having a go and they were rewarded for there effort with a second half goal from Werner who latched onto a Dahoud through ball and beat the offside trap to score what was merely a consolation.
Liverpool 2 v 1 Hull City
Griezmann (Coutinho, 21, Rakitic, 25)
Werner(Dahoud 63)
MOTM - Griezmann
Stoke 3 - 0 Leicester
Zlatan x 2 (Mkhit, 17, Ribery, 44)
Pedro(Mkhit 50)
MOTM - Mkhitaryan
Newcastle v Spurs
another resilient display from the away side who were under the cosh for the majority of this game, but again a solid defensive display left Newcastle frustrated, chances came and went but for fantastic goalkeeping and defending this could have been a good humping, Kompany and co just not allowing the likes of Suarez the time he is used too, however there good work was undone as a stupid foul in the box by Cedric was deemed a foul and a penalty was awarded and Suarez stood up and buried it passed Forster, persistence eventually winning the game for Newcastle which they deserved in the end
Newcastle 1 - 0 Spurs
Suarez(Pen 86)
MOTM - Forster
Man Utd v Birmingham
A very important game for both sides as a relegation battle is what neither wants, Man Utd are in it tho but Brum still have a chance of pulling away, a lot of nerves out there today and it showed when even the best players on show touches were poor, however we got a goal when Hamsik took control in the centre and played in Vardy who placed it beyond on an onrushing Leno, 2nd half was slightly better from both teams, but neither taking control of proceedings. Man Utd scored an equaliser after a fantastic run down the left by Bernat, his inswinging cross was met by Cavani who powered home a fine header to make it 1 each, as hard as both tried this was to be the final score, doesn't help either I guess but a point is a point.
Mann Utd 1 - 1 Birmingham
Cavani(Bernat 74)
Vardy (Hamsik, 22)
MOTM - Manolas
