Wanyama what a guy!

So with 25 mins to go, Toby feels his hamstring tighten, doesn't want to risk it with Jan out for 6 weeks. Poch looks at his bench, it's going to be a battle till the end and we need strong hearts and cool heads. It would be risky to put young CCV on at this moment to face Aguero and co. He could try Davies who has played in a back three, but No, this is two CB's in a back four. Who does he turn to? Victor Wanyama that's who.

I don't know about you guys but I had no idea he could play CB, so I'm feeling even more nervous. But he just slots in alongside Dier like a veteran and sees the game out.

He hadn't had a great game up till then I didn't think. A few sloppy passes in the first half, but he wasn't the only one. But to go back into an unfamiliar position which is so critical, against a top front five like City have, and help us defend so bravely. Take a bow son!

I think Walker would have a good say in being our POTS too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
& Rose
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Danny Rose a little less so as he's played fewer games, and I think Walker overall has been slightly better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3 less games than Walker and only 1 goal/assist behind.

Although I was meaning Rose over Alli for POTS.

Waynama, Walker & Rose imo are clearly a head of everyone else

I think Walker's been a little better both defensively and in creating chances. Stats back that up.

Yeah probably those 3 stick out. I might have included Lloris had it not been for yesterday.

Could never put Lloris in the top category as for all his top saves his kicking puts us in so much trouble it negates all the good stuff imo

His kicking can be poor but he's had a good season. Yesterday sadly took some of the gloss off him, more so than any of his kicking up to this point has done.

Walker, rose, wanyama been our best players this year.

Walker was pretty crap yesterday though imo, looked knackered in stages and was stupid with that push.

The push was pretty good in hindsight. Prevented Sterling scoring and we got away with it and ended up with a point rather than none.

For me, yesterday was yet another proof that the solidity of our defense is from the partnership of Alderwereild and Vertonghen. These two anticipate and read each other's movement so well.

Earlier in the season, we didn't have this partnership and looked very average at the back, though still conceded less.
Yesterday, we looked very leaky too.
We need both of them to be back and playing.

I thought Kane looked a bit lost in the first half and Eriksen was barely visible too.

But that I think is down to how well City played.
It felt like it was City's cup final to be honest.

A good side can withstand such an onslaught away from home and still come away with points.

LLoris was owed a bad day at the office and therefore no comments from me.

All our problems stemmed from not playing the ball out well from the back, due to City's press. It was more or less the same at Utd and vs LFC.

Being forced back made our FBs less effective and we were unable to get any real pattern to our play, build through the middle and get the full backs involved....as a result Kane and Alli saw little of the ball.

Shame we werent more forceful and controlled the middle of the park as i think there back line was weak.

Everyone is entitled to have an off day, yesterday was obviously Lloris's.

I think when we play teams who do a high press like Liverpool and City, then we need to revert to 4 at the back
