He is in the semi final of yet another Major Championship, and as the fourth seed in the world he has achieved what is expected of him. The question is now, can he go on and beat the greatest players on the planet.
Let's get one thing quite clear, he may not be the greatest player around, but he is far from the worst, and the very fact that we mention his name in the company of the other 3 speaks volumes about Andy Murray.
Win or lose, once again he has carried our nations flag superbly, and I wish him all the best in the next 2 matches.
Anybody know what Britains next best player is doing this week?
Andy Murray

Just his personality. Guess he is alright. Great player though.

I think Andy is really gonna struggle today against Rafa. Nadal just looked so impressive against Roddick.
Then again, Murray pretty much did the same to Rodders at Queens so who knows. I think it's either gonna be a walk over for Nadal, or its gonna be an absolute classic of a match. (really puting my neck on the line eh? LoL)
Murray has done another brilliant job in getting to yet another semi final but I just can't see him being able to have that perfect match, which he will need against Nadal.
I'll be supporting him all the way though.
On a side note, I heard them mention on Sky Sports last night that he was only the 7th player to ever reach all 4 grandslam semi finals in the same year. Thats impressive all on its own.

Nice post Broxy. Dare we say that Andy Murray is now officially the seventh best tennis player in history on all courts? lol
It's gonna get tough for him and I can not wait for his semi final. I think it is amazing that Andy Murray is doing so well when he is currently playing against 3 of the greatest players that have ever played the game.
We certainly have one GOAT in this competition, and many think we have 2 GOATS and couple that with the fact that Djoko may become a GOAT then you can see why it is difficult for Andy to win one of these things? He is doing his best though, and is always there, and that is more than enough for me. He has almost brought our lousy tennis playing nation out of the doldrums

Well I can only speak for myself, but it's due to Andy doing so well, that I've decided to take up playing Tennis.
Im 27 and hadn't played since i was about 14 and have recently joined a club. I used to be pretty good at the game but very quickly discovered that my talent must have vanished a long time ago LOL.
Anyway, I always watched when Tim (henman) was playing, but he never inspired me to take the game up.
As far as GOATS go, i'd have to agree. Fed in my opinion is definetly the greatest ever. Nadal is not far behind and if Nole keeps playing like he has been for the next few years, then I think you have 3 of the best players to ever play the game. If Murray played in any other generation, then he could easily have picked up 2 or 3 grand slam titles by now. He's just got too many great players to try and get past to win one now im afraid.

As far as the future of British tennis is concerned I would just point out that in the semis of the boys singles in the US Open 3 out of 4 are from GB.
Jiri Vesely CZE (1) v Kyle Edmund GBR
Oliver Golding GBR (13) v George Morgan GBR (10)
Both these matches are due to be played today.
This may of course be a false dawn, but not bad going for now.

Think we need to cling to anything we can when it comes to British Tennis. Hopefully these kids can kick on from Junior level, dosn't always happen though.

Broxy, that stat re the semis is very impressive it shows good consistencey and timing to keep delivering the Slams.
As for the GOAT, there is only one, Federer.
Nadal has a chance to ecclipse him if he stays fit.
I really like Nole, but he needs more than one season for his achievments to get near Federers, he'd need at least another 5 years to overhaul Fed's haul.
The think that makes Nole's current run so impressive though is the calibre of his opposition at the moment. Fed never had a Rafa and Fed to compete with on all surfaces 6 years ago.

No way Murray is gonna beat Nadal!

I would be amazed if he did SuperTn. The best part about this is that we will soon find out if he can or can't. He is still in this tournament and battling it out with the best of them. Good luck to the lad?

Murray has done it many times against Nadal. Even in majors, but the fatigue factor will play a massive part tonight and Nadal is one of the fittest sportsmen about. I don't think Andy will have enough left tonight, but who knows!
