Cazorla > Ozil, Xhaka, Ramsey, Elneny, Coq

Second season in a row that we have practically lost Cazorla for the season.

I have mentioned this point before and will mention it again.

Cazorla at home would run games like today through his trickery play. Amazing how reliant we are on a 32 year old.

Remember at the start of the season we all thought we had strength and depth in MF but it's come to the reality that our MF is Cazorla and other in there to accommodate him.

He was instrumental in us beating Chelsea earlier this season. We now go into the Chelsea game with practically no MF. Ozil will get swamped and out muscled as normal, Iwobi will just look clueless in there and get caught on the counter as he isn't used to playing in mf and Coq will just try and play it safe after an early yellow.

P.S I hope the rumours about the Juve manager are true

Southampton played a 2nd team and let us do as we pleased.

Our team have still struggled in games, even when loaded with pace.

Nope. Weakened teams and in fact all limited teams, be it Watford or Preston or Southampton have one style of play when they come up against opposition they consider superior. Close them down and make it tough for them to play. They know they can't play technically faster than Arsenal or Chelsea or any top team in fact.

I don't care if you play the bottom team in the second division or the the bottom team in the premier league. They employ the same tactic. Its the tactic that defeats us because our player personnel.

Think back to the Everton game. We dominated them and lost because Monreal was to far away from Coleman and didn't have the pace to block his run. Look at how others have performed against Everton away and how a draw against them would actually been a good result.

We completely overwhelmed Man City in the first half as well. In fact Neville said on commentary that if we had gone for it we would be 2-0 up at half and that would seal it. In the second half Wenger tactically sat back and invited pressure. Man City are too good up front not take advantage of that and won.

I said after the two loses that Wenger will learn the wrong lesson from those defeats and low and behold it happened. He started with Giroud after that, comfortable wins became tight squeakers, close wins became draws and draws became loses.

They couldn't do it because faster players can easily move away from man to man marking. Its the first thing you are taught at school. If the player is faster than you give him two yards or you will get beaten. If the player is slow get as close as you can and use your body strength to out muscle him off the ball.

I am sorry pls watch the Everton and City games again. We lost these games because we were defensively naive as we were yesterday against Watford. Has absolute nothing to do with having pace on or not.

Gunnerthru, football is about tactics. When you can't play out of your own half because of the OPPOSITION you will give free kicks away and have defensive panic. This is why Klopp has been so successful in Germany and Simeone in Spain.

So its important that you can push up as a team away from your own goal and move the play up the pitch towards the opposing goal. Its that simple. If you then make a mistake as a defender the chance created doesn't mean an automatic shot on your goal. And you have time as defender to get back to recover from the mistake made.

You cannot push up as a team if the opposition is camped in your half. The only way to push teams back towards their own goal is to have a fast striker. Then the opposing defenders have to respect your striker and they drop deep so that no one can get in behind in the space they leave when they push up to press you.

If that is right why didnt we win against City and Everton?

I told you why above. It wasn't because we were dominated by Everton like we were by Watford in the first half. And against Man City we sat back after going ahead instead of continuing to attack.
