Positions To Strengthen For Next Season

Afternoon chaps.

We all know there are positions where we need to strengthen badly. Our squad is paper thin, and we can clearly see it is not big enough to play few games a week.

GK - Do we need to buy another keeper? I'm really not sure on that one. I can't see Klopp buying another keeper having bought Karius in, who I see as taking the number 1 spot soon when he settles.

LB - Milner has done a decent job, but I think it's time we buy a proper Left back. I think we should go all out for Sead Kolasinac, plays for Schalke, and will be a free agent in the summer. This season he has provided two goals and six assists in 18 competitive games for Schalke. He is versatile and doesn't really have any weaknesses. Really strong in one on ones. Physical player.

CB - We definitely need reinforcements here. Lovren is a liability and although can be good in some games, he shouldn't be starting. I really, really hope Sakho can make it up with Klopp and performs well with Crystal Palace so he can come back into the team. His Liverpool career isn't over yet. If he does come back, we still need a CB imo. I would definitely try and go for Van Dijk. He is worth the money. Another option would be Jonathan Tah of Leverkusen. I watch Bundesliga every week end and he impresses me big time. A proper man mountain, and can bring the ball out, physically impressive too. He is very solid all round. Would cost less than VVD.

RB - Clyne is a decent player, can get better but I think he is solid enough to start for us. We have TAA also on standby and this kid is good enough cover imo.

Moving onto the midfield.

CM - Henderson has improved quite a lot over the years and he has shown he is good enough for a place in this team. I just feel though, he is more of Scott Parker type of player. He doesn't take risks. I know this season he has the most passes but still feel he would be better off as a squad player. Some may disagree but I also think we need a new captain.

I think in the Henderson position, we should bring in one of Dahoud/Paredes/Ruben Neves/William Carvalho/Kovacic. Personally, I think Ruben Neves would be immense. William Carvalho is another good player but I think Man City are close to signing him? Ruben Neves is like a Busquets, can protect the back four, recycle possession and also has impressive distribution. 19 years old but has very good experience. Mahmoud Dahoud would be the best choice. But there will be a lot of competition for him.

Wide Forward - We need a creative player who can play in the wide positions. Best choice and a realistic target would be Julian Brandt. Another Leverkusen player. Bright, young player, very creative and reminds me a lot of Kevin De Bruyne. Exceptional talent who could be brilliant under Klopp

Striker - I have a feeling Sturridge will be leaving. He needs games and injuries have really affected him. I can't see him being a bench player for us. Would be best to cash in on him. We are linked heavily with Inaki Williams, who plays for Atletico Bilbao. He is rapid, has great movement, strong, and can also play across the front line. He reminds me a lot of Aubameyang. He will be quite expensive, though. Quite a risky option as he is still raw. There is also another striker who would be more sensible, Sardar Azmoun. The Iranian international has scored an impressive 16 goals in 22 appearances for his country. He is good in the air, can press, intelligent, and is a good finisher. Still only 21 years old. Would be available at a fair price. Personally, would sign both, as Ings has been out for quite some time with injuries. Could really affect him big time.

Potential Team

GK - Karious, Mignolet
LB - Kolasinac, Milner, Moreno,
CB - Sakho, Tah, Matip, Lovren, Klavan, Gomez.
RB - Clyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
CM - Dahoud/Neves, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Can, Grujic
LM/RM - Coutinho, Mane, Brandt, Ojo, Wilson
FW - Firmino, I. Williams, Origi, Azmoun, Ings, Woodburn.

I think that would be a big enough squad to play in multiple competitions.

Starting Line Up

Mignolet (For now), Kolasinac, Sakho, Matip, Clyne, Dahoud, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Coutinho, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Karius, Milner, Tah, Henderson, Can, Brandt, I. Williams.

What positions do you guys think needs strengthening? Which players should we sign?

Thoughts lads.

Mane and Coutinho apart, I can't think of any position we can't improve on.

We have to qualify for the CL to make any more progress which makes it all the more surprising we brought no one in in January.

Quite frankly I'm amazed we aren't fighting relegation we're that sh!t

Next season KLS we will do a Leicester and be bottom 6 all season if we don't invest a gazillion dollars RIGHT NOW!!!

Please please before ARE tops himself.

On the other hand....

If we don't get CL they should shut the club.

I'm 100% certain that it was Klopps decision to not sign anyone in January. I think the way he saw it, it was too late to buy anyone to help us during the fixture congestion, and we now only have one game a week with pretty much a full squad to pick from.

Common sense really....

Well I think it was kind of Draxlers decision, we would have signed him if he wanted to come, IMO.

Klopp certainly wasn't desperate for players though.

Yeah, Draxler was definitely one he did go for, apparently. Not too fussed we didn't get him tbh, from what I've read he hasn't exactly been pulling up trees, certainly not enough to be demanding a whopping salary straight away.

He's started well at PSG to be fair, but he did the same at Wolfsburg and then went downhill.

We need a central midfielder to break into the box like Wijnaldum did on Tuesday. He's not done it enough but also isn't clinical enough. Someone who is creative from deeper too. There's too many passes going sideways across the opposition defence.

Don't think we need a new central striker, we were doing well enough with Origi and Firmino there early in the season, Ings has a work rate klopp will like and Woodburn adds enough depth. And frankly will not develop without game time. Fowler Owen etc didn't get to the level they did while sat on the bench.

More importantly is a wide forward or two to give depth with coutinho/mane, we suffered without them, especially mane.. freeing Lallana up to go back to the midfield and rotate with Gini. Bringing in two wide forwards would allow cout to cover there in case of injuries too.

Defensive midfielder, regardless of whether or not graphic will kick on, Lucas time with us is done.. He needs replacing with someone who can oust one of can/hendo or at least push them for competition. Since the competition dropped off they have been poor, although if true can has been playing through injury he should now improve, we saw exactly the same situation with Henderson.

In both cases it's a worrying lack of depth that forces us to play them. Stewart will probably be moved on soon too, although personally I think he's decent cover.

Short of gomez moving up the pecking order we need to replace sakho and we need a left back.

So LB, CM, and two wide forwards are all that are crucial in my opinion.

With Lucas, Sturridge and Sakho most likely to leave.

That was Lallana earlier in the season, all of his assists and all but one of his goals came prior to couts injury when he was pushed further forward to cover. (2 months and just 1 goal no assists?)
