Arrivederci!

So Claudio has now received the dreaded "vote of confidence" from the board. Do our Thai owners realise that they have just given him the mafia-style kiss of death?

My memory may well be faulty but I don't recall Pearson getting the vote of confidence?

He was given the vote of confidence in October 2012 when we were languishing in the bottom half of the championship table - public statement from the owners. I don't think there was any statement during the great escape season but to be honest that's more to do with the internal power struggle that was going on as some people wanted to sack him and others wanted him to stay.

The end result is that they backed Pearson despite a terrible slump in results and all sources indicated that's exactly what they will do with Ranieri.

Yes was thinking about the Great Escape season.

In any event it means the sack is more likely than I was expecting.

Agreed. Hardly a sackable offence for stating the obvious. If anything a better looking hooker should have been ordered as a replacement

I don't think this is the dreaded vote of confidence.

I think it's a clear message to the media and sources within the club and a message to the players as well. References about stability and togetherness shows their thinking. They aren't getting rid

However it is dressed up it is without doubt a vote of confidence. Whether that leads to the sack is debatable, but it's a step towards it that they didn't have to take.

I don't think it's a step towards it at all and I think they absolutely had to step in especially in light of the newspaper reports over the weekend.

It's a step towards it as it shows they have discussed the subject, whereas if they kept quiet it would remain speculation.

PS I can see we're going to have to agree to disagree and I'm off to bed!

Have a read of this Nuneaton, super piece by Martin Samuel which I agree with. Let's see what happens but in short, I really think the owners are siding with Ranieri here and issuing a warning to a few of the players

I've heard nothing in the speculation or actual interviews to suggest that Ranieri has done anything to warrant the full blame for this.

If the players are genuinely kicking up a fuss about post match meal changes and wages, they have zero sympathy from me. Zero. They should be removed from the team, one by one until we're left with players who are ready to fight for Ranieri and for our survival. No player is bigger than the club or the team.

It's right that the owners have backed Ranieri. If we go down this year, it will be down to the poor transfer activity, and woesful performances from the players. Not because of Ranieri trying a few different options when 4-4-2 was evidently failing without Kante.

DD, Mahrez, Vardy and co. Time to step up and fight for the fans if nobody else. Because right now, you're letting us down. I don't care what your issues are. Take your £50k+ a week and go out and fight for us.

We will back you to the hilt if you do that. Let's be in this together.
