problems with punditry

Why is it that 99.9% of all football pundits are idiots? On a daily basis, football fans have to put up with men like Phil Thompson, Paul Merson, Robbie Savage, Matt Le Tissier and Mark Lawrenson spouting garbage that is often tainted by their various bias'. Even during the World Cup last year, without a doubt the most prestigious tournament in football, The BBC decided to hire Mick Macarthy and Emmanuel Adebayor to share their completely unwanted insights on the games.

This is made even worse when you look at the pundits sat in the ITV studio during Englands Rugby match with Argentina this morning. They had Lawrence Dallaglio, a World Cup winner and all round England legend, and Francois Pienaar, also a World Cup winner and all round South Africa legend. Both gave some great insight without a hint of bias.

I mean, seeing as football is the most popular sport in England, and channels such as Sky and ITV aren't exactly strapped for cash, they could at least bring in someone decent to give some useful comments on a match or two. But no, instead, we're given Chris Kamara. and while he might be great for the odd gaff or ten, Matt Damon is never going to play him in a Hollywood movie, is he?

Football punditry is just biased. If you look at cricket, its so neutral, you'd be surprised.

Unless of course its Ian Botham who will say negative stuff about asian cricket teams. But other than that they're all neutral.

Just heard Jeff Sterling say Stoke 'should be challenging Arsenal.' Absolutely ridiclous. Talking nonsense about my former club.

Alan Smith bias Maybe against you lot but he will have a moan about Arsenal whenever he gets the chance! Merson is just a clown although I enjoy watching him simply because he makes me laugh.

And what is wrong with Le Tissier? I think he's a good balanced pundit to be honest.
