The world cup in Qatar will be fun<erm>

Qatar has a pretty large expatriate population and Doha is a bit like a smaller Dubai. Don't think it would be nearly as suppressive as many believe.

I appreciate what FIFA are trying to do in recognising that football is a truly global game and the hosting of the World Cup should happen in Africa, the Middle East, but I think they've really dropped a clanger by choosing Qatar as the ME option.
Shame Israel didn't put a bid in. Would've fit the ME criteria and would've been far more inclusive of the global fans than Qatar by the sounds of things.

Egypt and Turkey would probably participate in a WC in Israel. I say probably but I'm not sure. I can't think of a single other Muslim majority country that would attend a tournament in Israel. Most, or at least eight I think, don't recognise Israel as a country. Turkey and Egypt do.
In reality it would only really rule out Algeria, Tunisia and not much else.
The Israelis don't have the stadiums though. People forget the country is about the size of Wales.

It's not like Saudi Arabia no, but stuff like Fan zones with beer on sale will be completely new to them. Drinking outdoors or at sporting events is completely illegal. No way they are going to get away with saying people can drink in hotels and casinos and that's it. For one thing, Budweiser is going to a sponsored beer at the games again?
Another issue is if Israel qualify for the WC there
once again, they will just have to completely ignore what the law technically says.

But Israel is twice the size of Qatar and by the time the world cup comes round it will likely be even bigger.
I was being a bit facetious really though..

If the Israelis built as many stadiums as Qatar arethey could absolutely do it!

I find it a bit odd how the rules in some ME countries seem to be enforced where it suits.
Like in Dubai, you can party the absolute shhhhiiittt out of it in the hotels, booze, class A's whatever, but outside the hotles you can't have a pint?
Fair enough, I respect if aME nation has a no booze law, but if you have stick to it, they allow Westeners to party away cause it's good for business.

I'd go to Russia feet dude, but I'm a straight, white Irish lad so would probably be OK
I'd defo chose Russia over Quatar if I had to pick.

Where have we heard the phrase 'if you don't like it don't come to our country' ?
Hypocrites the lot of ya
----------------------------------------------------------------------
bunch of hypocrites facks I been dealing with sometimes I wonder do they ever think before they write but then again what can you expect from people who never travelled outside of London, benefits not enough for ya
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are the one who lives in London, not us
London, and the UK in general, is multi-cultural and inclusive of all religions. The London Olympics was a success in bringing many cultures together.
No one has said 'if you don't like it don't come to our country' - merely given you the advice that if you think the place you live in is the "shttiest city in the world" then maybe you should move
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have u been outside of uk? You hear news about one Muslim country and you think the rest are the same. I won't be surprised if you voted to leave eu. I wouldn't be surprised if you support edl and bnp. Where exactly do you live?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blimey
This just sums you up...
