Pretty similar styles, but cazorla is better in pretty much every aspect.

Also Wilshere is one footed, whereas cazorla can use both.

Wilshere is maybe better at one two's and running to receive the ball. Cazorla is better at everything else, except reckless tackles.

Night and day.

• Cazorla:
His philosophy is to keep the ball at all costs. He doesn't tend to move around a lot, and will let the ball do most of the running. This can make him a nightmare to mark at times.

He's also probably the only midfielder we have who actually wants the ball, (which has been a very big problem since he got injured). He'll track back and collect it from midfield and also offer himself as support for anyone who runs into a cul de sac.

His positional discipline is quite good for his role. He's also mature enough to quickly and safely go for the cynical professional foul, should he get caught out.

Also tends to stay outside the opposition's box nowadays.

•Wilshere:
Prefers to telegraph his play through the opposition ranks, and will concede tonnes of possession as a result.

Always moves with the ball, which can make it very easy to mark him out of a game.

No positional discipline to speak of, but will cause trouble for the opposition when paired with a decent couple of lumps in midfield.

He'll also offer an extra body in the opposition's box from time to time.

Cazorla is good. Not great, but good.

Wilshere isn't and likes cocaine.

Cazorla, on his day, is unplayable.

The last time we saw Santi , he was a brilliant player. When we see him again, he will have missed a season and will be nearing his mid thirties....Gooners will expect him to be the returning messiah, but the reality when he eventually returns may be very disappointing. IMO, this is another nail in the coffin of Wenger's legacy i.e. failing to manage injuries appropriately. Ultimately Wenger needs to go and the team needs a root an branches rebuild.

Santi is 10 times the player Wilshere will ever be, in every aspect of the game beside maybe pace..
