60s, 70s and 80s. They don’t have to have played for your club previously, or even played in England, who’d they be?
My 60s player (believe it or not) would be Bobby Moore. I think he’d still look quality even with modern day rules and reffing in this era.
My 70s player would be Kenny Dalglish. I only saw him in the 80s and still the finest British player I’ve witnessed.
And my 80s player would be Ruud Gullit. Yes I know there was Van Basten, Platini, Socrates, Zico and a certain Argentinian before you make me aware But I’d have loved to see a prime Gullit in today’s Premier league and playing for Chelsea.
If you could choose 1 player from the......

Is it true that George Best is like Messi-esque? I wish I could see him play.
Beckenbauer

I think younger people may not know that Best could tackle as well as anyone and was a terrific header of a ball as well. The forwards who survived in that era had to be tough.

Maradona was different gear.
In an era of defensive brutality and negative football, he stood out. He would be nigh on impossible to knock off the ball in this protected era for forwards.

True but in today's game he'd have to have, errrrr let's just call it a 'different' approach to physical fitness!

Apt description.

60's, jimmy greaves, amazed by his scoring record, sad he missed out on the wc final
70;s, cruyff(spelling), just looked amazing watching old videos back
80's maradona in his pomp

Difficult to argue with any of that

have to throw Best in there 60/70s

Yup, no arguments from me either - & when you take into account the punishment defenders were allowed to mete out in those days I think Maradona (not my favourite person) is still the best player who has ever lived - particularly when you consider he almost single-handedly dragged a moderate Argentina through to winning the World Cup.
